About a month ago I found one of these invasive planarians living on my patio under a concrete pot that provides water for the outdoor cats. At first I thought it was a very young snake, possibly a copperhead, so I was very curious about what it actually was. After doing some research I learned that it was what is commonly known as an "arrowhead worm." They have the same neurotoxin as a puffer fish. For point of reference, I'm situated in North Carolina. Apparently they made their way here by way of infected plants and soil.


Not my pic, but one exactly like the arrowhead worm found on my patio.

That looks like one of those intestinal parasites from eating certain seafood/freshwater fish not properly prepped
