She´s back again! My eternal love . I guess I´ll always lack the money for that, but today I´m not so sure if it´s worth to spend that coin for a guitar like this, as nice as it is (I mean, I like them for the better upper fret access, and in the case of the wide, for the 44 mm nut width. There are less costly similar guitars with those specs. It´s difficult to find the 44 mm width nut, but there are choices).

I´m talking about the AD3200 2TS

backad3200.jpg

And I´m also talking about the AL3200 Tobacco Wide.

My AD-3200 is my favorite Agile. It just sounds great and plays like butter. Even though I don't spend much time at the highest frets, I am impressed by the access afforded by the neck heel (pretty much no heel at all).

You´re not helping with my intention of fooling myself to consider other options... :)

I´d really like one of those AD3200.

And the search will be over.

I guess guitars are like cars and so many other things in life, there´s so many different tastes.

I like the LP symmetrical double cut shape - and the single cut LP shape - and the affordable upper frets, I also like block inlays. That´s why I also like the Ibanez AR series guitars, but I don´t seem to find other affordable options of models like those. You find hundreds of clones of strats, teles, Vs, explorers, 335s and every other imaginable guitar, but very few options for DC LP shaped guitars.

Anyway, too bad you haven´t been succesful at wanting one of those, there is a lefty AD3200 in gold there ;) :)

I'd consider parting with the AL-3000, but definitely not the AD-3200's!

The first AD immediately became the only LP type dual humbucker guitar I play 99% of the time, with the AL kept as a backup. Now that I have the second, one, the AL is probably going to sit in a case completely unplayed unless I come up with something to do with it. P-90's? High action for slide? Sell it?

Humbucker sized P-90s would be easy enough. You could also maybe go for a set of nickel/chrome covered EMGs, maybe even a humbucker sized set of TV Jones Classics (the latter apparently work well in solid body guitars). Any of those would give you something noticeably different in terms of sound and tone...

I have a Cabronita Tele which scratches that itch really well. I don't currently own anything with P-90's so that is probably the leading candidate.

There are quite a few choices for HB sized P90s. I've got Tonerider Rebel 90s, Harpmaster, GFS Mean 90s and a couple sets of Buddhas...

I have a TV Jones Classic and classic plus in my Harm (which came with soapbar P-90's.)
TV Jones is always happy to work with you and will make whatever style puckup you want in whatever mounting you need.
I would assume other pickup makers will do likewise.

I have a Classics/Classics Plus set with a P90 form factor that I've been meaning to get into an AS-1000 GT for the last five years. Maybe as soon as I get an AD-3200 project done that has been on the kitchen table for the last four months...

It seems that nobody wants to get rid of the AD3200. I suppose it makes clear enough that it is a good guitar.

I have my AL3000.

I think P-90's will make for a good choice on it. Go that way, I´d say.

So, again, enjoy your ADs! :)

As of now, the ADs are gone, and there are only 3 of the AL3200 in Tobacco Wide.

Inventory does not go as fast as it used to...

SX makes a double cut. But it isnt in the same gorgeous class.

I don't recall ever seeing one of those on the Rondo site, or anywhere else for that matter. Do you know what the model number is?

Not sure about it either, but I´ll take a look at SX guitars.

This is what I found:

http://www.sx-guitar.com/index.php/Prod ... ies/pid/26

I´ve really been looking for less costly alternatives to the AD3200 or AL3200 models from Agile, or the AR model from Ibanez. No luck. It´s more likely that I can have three bills for a guitar at some point in my life than double or more than that, which is the regular price for any of those. Even used Ibanez ARs aren´t that cheap, not 50% cheap, at least. But I´m not really looking for that guitar as of right now; the three bills are not "ready" yet ;)

Did you look at their web page? They have SG style guitars, but those are not what I´ll be looking for...

OK, Rondo offered the SX GG5 and GG6 years ago, I assumed what @Partscaster referenced was a symmetrical solid body. I've got a black GG6 with gold hardware:

Ok. Didn´t remember that - must be because I´m not particularly attracted to F-holes guitar -. Yes, symmetrical double cut solid body, as AD Agile guitars and AR Ibanez guitars. And yes, it´s the Jazz Series from SX according to their page.

They look good, but somehow I don´t seem to feel a solid attraction for those...

Wow... $200 for one of those... Good times.

Now, as a tangent of my own thread, here is one double cut symmetrical from China. Just for comparison sakes. Color looks very nice for me. Free shipping to the US. Affordable price, with case ($267 without a case). Would it be a good guitar? That´s the question, I guess.

Why aren´t more guitars like that in the american market?

aliex.png

@tobijohn Was it you that you that once tried getting one from China, from those Ali vendors?

The one I was thinking of isnt symmetrical, and perhaps not a true double cut, but a modern double cut, sort of.
