'Pratteman'?
That's John. Jim/James. Last name starts with Sch. Might be Schaffner.
James Schaffner. Spoke with him in July. Kids are at the age that he and his wife are constant taxis and hasn't had much time for guitar.

I bought a Harm1 from him.
"Top 10 in the old AGF" needs to be a thread, maybe even with multiple categories.

Some of my nominations would include

1. The Harpmaster/AJL saga - probably could be a separate category into itself

2. Musician's Friend Bugera amp blowout/ensuing catastrophes

3. The guy who used to build really nice amps that ended up burning his trailer down with everything inside

4. "AGF Survivor"
You cant forget the nrussell23 thing where he tracked down someone that shipped a package but it had a brick in it
And then there was the guy who was pretending to be a chick thing.....I think that was it...
And the ihavenofish vs someone else....both got banned

GRRRRRR......there was so many funny things that happened...It's all gone.....
I used to look forward to your weekly AGF synopsis and let's not forget the helsinkirocks (AJ) photoshop thread...

Good memory! There was another guy who was a total troll and ended up getting into a knock down - drag out with a few people and got 'excommunicato.'
Yeah...I remember that old geezer...his handle was something descriptive of his personality...his avatar used to be some old geezer I think

Memory lane. I remember the kookiest guy, it seemed to me, to be a guy representing Badcat guitars with a sphincter avatar, and a real dislike for the Greatful Dead.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I bought a Gretsch Electromatic Jet from here that he claimed was perfect. When I received it, the electronics was fucked up and even had a broken wire inside. When I presented the problem to Jim, he told what an imbecile that I must be if I couldn't simply solder a wire back in place (I had three years of electronics in high school.) I explained to him that it wasn't in the condition described and he reminded me how close that we lived and that he just might have to come whip my ass. When I responded with a satellite image of HIS house, he angrily replied that he would refund my money.

I left out a lot of cussing and aggressive behavior on his part. It was a super unpleasant transaction.

The guy that burned his home down was sad. It was in my neck of the woods, and we'd exchanged messages from time to time. His photos were beautiful.

Everyone remember Malymal... or whatever? Guy was swindling members. He got me for a set of pickups but returned them after the jig was up.

Good memories.

That guy was a trip. He was posting pictures of his girlfriend, which were actually pictures of him self dressed like a girl, which was made extra interesting because he was also a bit of a homophobic transphobic Nazi. I couldn't figure out which part was trolling and which was really him/her/they or if he was just plane nuts.

And that, my friends, is something resembling the likely backstory on many of the outrageous pawn shop deals I post about.

@honyock is definitely here, he recently beat me in the AGF Fantasy Football league. Both@snarph and @RedLesPaul last visited in May, not sure who the others are. There is a Members link at the bottom of every page that gives you date joined and date last logged in that can be arranged chronologically or alphabetically

Sorry to hear about Patrick, he was very helpful to many on the board back then.

Good for her.

As a side note, I believe "success" can indeed be a curse sometimes, when it damages family relationships and the such, and you no longer have time for you and for what really matters. I reckon that if "success" means plenty of bills in the pocket it is a good thing, it allows you to handle the things that are handled by bills, but if the price of that "success" is too high, then it wouldn´t make sense in the end.

Well, I´m gonna stop, I´m starting to go too deep haha. I´d be happy with half "succes" in my pockets, that´s true! :)

TWANG cut me a truss rod cover and maybe a back plate for a Firebird? He engraved his name on the back plate. Makes me smile whenever I see it.

I talk to slaveunit every once in a blue moon.

I wish I could think of this one member... was kind of surly. I still can remember that av. When I joined his av was himself with short hair. Toward the end itd grown out, but both images were him screaming into a mic in his bands.
