Arghh..after 3 years of avoidance Covid 19 finally caught me. Relatively mild so far .low grade temp first three days with sore throat, back soreness and stiffness and a weird skin hypersensitivity. Oh yeah, eating plain yogurt tastes like I'm eating a mouthful of nickels.
Weird thing too..driving to the pharmacy to get some covid tests, I noticed my vision with glasses very blurry. Took the glasses off and apparently I don't need them to drive anymore..covid improved my eyesight ? More testing needed...very odd

Best of luck for a mild case and quick recovery. Around here it has literally become "endemic" - even the hospitals have expired all of their masking/safety requirements.

Be careful with that stuff! I had COVID twice - the 1st time in March of 2020 before any vaccines, and the 2nd time after getting vaxed a couple doses. I still have long-COVID symptoms. I can't even smell food anymore, and can't run nearly as far as I used to (fatigue), but I'm better off than many other people with it.

Get well soon!
My whole family got it one by one in the past 2 weeks. I was the last man standing and I thought I could escape unscathed. But, it finally tagged me 2 weekends ago. It was my second time.

Fell Better Soon!
Hope the taste / smell comes back quickly - some folks we know it took months.
Quality of life / happiness / mental health, etc. affected.
I wonder when the next one will be released?....... Like a new Iphone......

Hope you feel better sooner than later. I have and it 3 maybe 4 times. Last time thought it was a cold because I tested negative, but a week later the wife tested positive. I hav had lingering affects. I just don’t have the stamina I once had. Used to jog before I had it. Have regained some of some of my stamina. Can barely make 2 miles now. Gave up running. My body just aches too much after now. I only bike these days.

5 day update:
No fever for at least 48 hours. Back pain finally subsiding, no real cough or breathing effects to speak of during the whole thing. Tested again this morning and still positive..I thought it would be gone..so more vigilance and test again in a couple of days ..but so far the effects not too destructive..yet.

This is what our doc mentioned about being positive again...Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 8:40 pm 5 day update:

Good Morning
The CDC guidelines are quarantine for 5 days from when symptoms first started, they do recommend an additional 5 days of masking if she is going out. They do not recommend retesting after the days because even though you may no longer be considered contagious you can still test positive. Make sure she is getting plenty of fluids and rest.

That's a good point...the tests were $2 each or 3 for $3 bucks...so the cheapskate in me is going to use them all anyway...ha ha halittlebadboy wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 8:01 amThis is what our doc mentioned about being positive again...Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 8:40 pm 5 day update:

Glad your getting better. Hopefully your negative by now. Both times I had it, it took me two weeks to test negative even though I was symptom free for several days. Supposedly, your not contagious after 10 days of onset of symptoms.Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 8:40 pm 5 day update:

My playing is always better after some good beer
Same here. I have had it twice. The first time was much worse. Sounds like your long-COVID symptoms are worse than mine, but I have still had issues with asthma and bronchitis ever since I had it the first time. I never had those problems before. As a matter of fact I just went to the doctor today for a nebulizer treatment and steroid shot and will be starting a steroid pack tomorrow for my current bout with bronchitis. It sucksBatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 5:37 pm Be careful with that stuff! Yeah...tested after 10 days...still positive although pretty much symptom free for a week now. Ridiculous !Gergo wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:29 amGlad your getting better. Had Covid twice
- 1st time only symptom I had was I lost my smell/taste for 3 days. (Pre-shot).
- 2nd time felt run down. Tested 6 times during the week and all came back negative. 7th time came back positive (very light line). Dr. prescribe Paxlovid and the Paxlovid mouth was worse than my Covid.. (post shots)
The Lyme disease I got a few months before getting my 1st case of Covid. Covid symptom doesn't even compare to my Lyme symptoms. Lyme kicked Covids ass, banged his wife, drank his beer, and stole his lunch money.

When I first tested..the deep red line came out in 2 seconds. First 3 days undulating fever, 100 to 102, night sweats and chills, changed clothes 3 times every night. Then sore throat for 4 days with backache and weird skin sensitivity (almost like a pre shingles effect). After fever broke day 4 or so. Then sense of taste off and diminished sense of smell. All in all not pleasant and 12 days out still feel a bit loopy.Sinster wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 10:29 am Had Covid twice

Yeah, definitely not something you want to slough off as similar to a cold. lots of stuff happens to your body that you may not even be aware of until weeks or months after the infection is gone. i am cautiously optimistic but still taking it very seriously.
Main reason for sudden changes in vision is blood sugar levels. Sugar goes up, more nearsighted, sugar goes down, less nearsighted.Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 3:29 pm Arghh..after 3 years of avoidance Covid 19 finally caught me. Interesting, so Covid dropped my blood sugar for a couple of days negating my need for glasses whilst driving. Back to normal now. I figured it had something to do with constriction of blood vessels in the eye, which was likely part of it.Lamf77 wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 12:45 amMain reason for sudden changes in vision is blood sugar levels. When I got the J&J Vax....I got sick or a week or so. I did not eat much for 2-3 days when it was at it's peak and my vision was affected. This would be the reason for low blood sugar more than the Covid itself. I have no idea if Covid can affect insulin levels/pancreas. Blood vessels carry oxygen. Mainly look at them like hoses to put out "fires" (infection, allergy reactions etc) in the eye. The lens in the eye is a closed system and when the sugar goes up, it soaks in water....more myopic, the opposite happens when the sugar is low. You must not have a very strong RX...the flux is usually + or - .50 in either direction.Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 3:29 amInteresting, so Covid dropped my blood sugar for a couple of days negating my need for glasses whilst driving. Yeah...exactly...I can actually drive without glasses normally just have trouble reading for example license plate numbers of cars ahead of me and overhead road sign details unless I squint hard. But it was quite weird to have the opposite effect for a day or 2...I wonder if I had tried sex during Covid if that would have been better or worse...ha ha haLamf77 wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 4:14 pmWhen I got the J&J Vax....I got sick or a week or so.
