This one was giving me a particularly difficult time during production. The groove was eluding me until I decided to try something "crazy" and added the synth part. Surprisingly, it seemed to pull itself together after that. Funny how that works sometimes.

I'm using the EVH Frankie Relic on most of the leads, and it's a good representation of its tone. Most of the rhythm parts are a Fender Strat. The bass is a Schecter J-Plus.

Really liking this. Its balanced well. I dont mean just L- R, but the rhythms going on are unique and complimentary. Has great force to it. Her voice is good doubled. She has a good voice anyways. But doubling done well, is good production. I'ld like to hear her do a song where her voice weaves a couple different lines around. Maybe doubled, and weaving. Maybe could be fitting with a hissing serpentine theme. Good job, folks.

That great force you speak of is, I believe, the result of simplicity. It is a simple driving riff. As a guitar player I find myself wanting to be too riffy and busy, and I can to that all day long ad nauseam. It is actually harder to write something that is simple and memorable.

My goal from the beginning of this project has been to record maybe 15 or so tunes with Amanda, then choose the dozen or so best to compile as an album. She has her own band which gigs locally, but this has been her first foray into composing and recording original music. The repertoire of her band is too 90s, grunge, and beyond for my taste, though I have been trying to steer her in a more classic rock/blues direction, as exemplified by our previously posted recordings.

I tripled and even quadrupled Amanda's voice on the chorus sections. I find a single vocal track up the center to be more intimate, while multiple layered voices can have the density and force of . . . well, a chorus, a collective group of people driving home a message. I'm not breaking any new ground here, as it's a tried and true formula.

The synth sounds like a didgeridoo in the background. I like its tight background beat in contrast to more medium and laid back guitar parts.
The leads are well done, too.

Now you're talking. Sounds great. Great groove on this one. And I agree about keeping it simple. I liked the groove and there's no overplaying on it. It's restrained but forceful. It breathes. And I agree about the vocal doubling/multitracking. Used judiciously I think it only improves and enhances your melody.

That's the groove I knew was hiding in this project. With just a touch of weedly weedly , perfect. Totally sounds like something that would pop up in in my pandora.
