Who needs a three-prong grounded plug when you can just make that annoying hum go away with a bread pan? R.I.P. Keith Relf.
If this was an actual guitar amp head, when you picked it up by the handle that big-ass output transformer would make it tip steeply to one side. That's a good sign, very good.
The very first indications of any sound whatsoever, which are really just swelling noise starting around 2:51, reveal the incredibly musical nature of this device. When he hits that D chord triad and rebounds with a staccato upstroke at 2:54 you hear in an instant how grand this amp is going to be. The next couple of minutes are just a pure eargasm. The rudimentary sounds he evokes just by droning the open strings and allowing feedback creates a superbly pleasing soundscape with the same effortless ease with which Bob Ross conjured a sky, a majestic mountain range, and a brooding forest beneath. It's analog magic! Let's see your Kemper or Fractal unit do that. Not!
To have somebody hand wire you an amp like this today, with these same components, and with this sound quality, would no doubt cost many thousands of dollars. I'll be on the lookout for something similar at my local thrift stores in the $8 - $12 range.
