That is a wild finish, is it stock? There's a lot of options for chrome touchup paint on Amazon but a new chrome poker chip is probably less expensive...

Epiphone Tommy Thayer...all stock with Seymour Duncan pups. I crossed over to the dark side and grabbed it. I see Philadelphia Luthier Supply sells them on Amazon. Will also try the flip.

I didn't know that the old Bears lineman/current radio color commentator was a rocker :). Personally, I'd go with chrome knobs for the total bling look....

Well...I totally forgot I had ordered this last week! ZUWEI Custom Shop Series TL. Someone on a Facebook Forum grabbed one and raved about it. Were $289 and when they dropped to $260 I almost pulled the trigger. Then a week ago they dropped to $199! Sold! Arrived well boxed in a styrofoam container....cooler density, not cheap. Came with thin gig back and truss rod adjustment instructions. Set "roasted maple" neck, and excellent build quality. I can not find any issues. Neck is a bit chunkier than I am used to. Reminds me of the old SX Natural Strat I sold years ago. I discovered later these are a Fender Merle Haggard "clone".
Picture of the real deal and link....it's pretty accurate copy!

My exact senitments. The back is what sold me....along with the darker neck....the $199 price didn't hurt too much either.

I actually need more pickups for the Tele style guitarss I already have but if they offered a lefthanded version, for $200 that's a no-brainer...

On another forum, there is a lot of positive talk on Bootstrap pickups. I just ordered one of their tele sets. $49.99 plus I think $5. shipping + tax.
The wait time is about 4 weeks though.
Cant wait to put them in the cheapy Indio tele I absolutely love.

Of course, the winders here at AGF are a great source as well.
I didn't think to inquire here first as I got caught up in the hype I guess.

Zuwei is the brand. The Amazon Return policy made it a no brainer. Question....I bought those Squeir Classic Vibe/Tonerider pups awhile back. Can the gold neck cover be swapped onto those? And I take it the bridge needs to come off to swap the bridge pickup?

The neck cover can easily be swapped as what is holding it on to the equivelant of a base plate are tabs that easily bend back and probably some wax which can be loosened afyer a few moments under a blow dryer. However, the new pickup might be a little taller than the stock one so those tabs might have to be bent a little differently to get it to stay on properly.

The bridge plate has to be removed to replace the bridge pickup but it's simple, just loosen the strings and then remove the screws that hold it to the body.

One note on the Classic Vibe/Tonerider pickups: When production switched to Indonesia apparently so did the pickups that are used. To the best of my knowledge, the Toneriders are only in the older MIC Classic Vibe guitars...

I bought these at least 3-4 years ago. Would I be able to check somewhere on them to see if they are indeed the Tonerider version?

You should be good but PM me a picture showing the labels on the bottoms, and I can confirm (can't recall the exact nomenclature but I'll recognize it when i see it)...

New Yamaha Acoustic Day. It's a "full sized guitar".. but smaller. It feels great - especially when transitioning from an electric. It sounded a tad thin compared to the big bodies but I know that it will sit well in a mix (below). I can fatten it up with the EQ, if needed.

This is recorded with a flat EQ

Bootstrap pickups.

I can't see how he is making any profit. I mean, i buy wire in 5lb spools to save. If you want heavy build or plain enamel, it is about $300-400 spool. I buy forbon fiber for strat and tele bobbins and get 40 to 60 sets at a time to get the discount. Same with magnets, you have to buy in bulk to get any discount. 100- to 500 pieces. After all that is done, i have a good idea what it cost me to make a set, not even counting my labor. Then you need screws, springs, tubing, wire, covers, baseplates, wax, beeswax, boxes to ship. Not counting any investment in tools, meters, winders, tensioners, waxpot.

Only reasonable thing i can figure is buy Chinese sets, unspool the wire and rewind. Or don't even rewind, just have them made. Then you might make $10 set.

I think @mozz is right about bootstrap. It's slim margins to run a business at the prices bootstrap does. He says he makes them in the USA. But the parts would at least have to be imported and bought in large quantities?

It could be done, you can buy 4x8 sheets of forbon and cut the top and bottom fiber bobbins yourself on a cnc machine. Magnets I'm sure you can buy 5000, 10,000. Could also be selling for just about cost as a intro and later once word gets out slowly raise the prices. I've tried to price bulk cloth wire in 3 colors and they want you to buy 500' spools, price drops to about half of what most places sell for, but it would still be a large investment to stock it. Maybe he invested $50,000 to buy bulk parts, I don't know.

NSD - New Strap Day

I can't say enough good things about this strap (I'm still in the honeymoon period, though). This thing is so fantastic. The combination of it's fit, feel and light weight have revitalized my playing and -dare I say - was the final nudge I needed to reach a new plateau of musicianship.

Check out it's vibe...
