I honestly can't remember who collected these on the old forum. I see a pretty good deal on one locally if you don't mind the fact that it's bundle with a 70's SS 4X10 Randall and a rare MIJ pedal.

Hi, I'm right here :). Don't have any Arias left in the collection anymore but I had 12 or so of the good ole' Matsumoku stuff pass through my hands over the years and really enjoyed learning about 'em along the way.

Lots of confusion on these models cuz there are so many different ones, others released with just very slightly different features, etc...but just going off that one photo this here's likely an Aria Pro II LC-500 or LC550 (depending on the hardware), circa 1977. Here's the catalog page:

I was thinking there was another poster who was really into the matsumoku/japanese guitars of all types. I think he has some Arias. And maybe doc knapp.

I think chimi42 had some and another gut too who was buying tons of them. Apparently 50 Amp Fuse had a lot but still not who I am thinking of. And per the thread I link below belleswell has a ton of them. Who was the guy buying up guitars and got 2 yamaha SGs in an estate sale. I am thinking he was super into the japanese guitars.

This in Google Search brings up some AGF Aria Threads. aguitarforum.com aria guitars

This link from our past is not Aria Specific but has some nice japanese guitars. EDIT: found an Aria Thread.

slowhand84 Got it and a vintage Japanese Mini Pops Jr (Korg) for $400 cash. Needs TLC though.

I bought this because of seeing AGF threads on this. I had to try it and get it fixed up. Which reminds me if I need to ask andrewsrea if he's willing and able. I'm cleaning this thing up with naptha and using deoxit already but I think one of the original pots just fell apart. LOL.

Nice, that's a perfectly solid grab for $400 and those Mini Pops can be worth some money too. Looks great in the pics!

Yeah binding cracking is fairly common on these, not a huge deal and not something that'll really deteriorate much further in our lifetimes. Comes with the vintage territory :)

I shall bring it over. I can't seem to make that Mini Pops Jr make a sound (it powers on). So I basically bought two not completely functional items for $400. Not my best deal ever but I'm optimistic still.

I think I may have had something very much like this. It was probably my 2nd electric. Bought it from a pothead friend that liked to snap truss rods. Probably bought it for $40 or so. With light string the truss was fine. I think his parents got mad at him so I had to sell it back. I think it was probably a much better guitar than I was able to tell at the time. I do think its where I got my distaste for clownbursts though.

Aphex Twin song that uses one of these and is thus named after it:

It might be on this Fight Club track? Maybe not the Junior version, but a version of the Korg mini:
