A drummer buddy was checking out my new e-drums today, and he said it might be possible for us to jam silently, him on the kit, me using my 11 Rack. What kind of gear would I need to make this work? I saw the Roland HS5, but, holy crap that's a lot of dough. Anyone know any good options?

I seem to recall something called the JamHub that I saw at a local audio place...maybe around $400 bucks or so ? I think that is about half the price of the Roland unit.Rollin Hand wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:50 pm A drummer buddy was checking out my new e-drums today, and he said it might be possible for us to jam silently, him on the kit, me using my 11 Rack. I'm guessing you could also use an amp with multiple inputs and use a splitter for headphone out for both of you.

Jamhub's out of business.
Joyo apparently made one called the Rockhouse, but that seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth as well.

Could you just go out from your interface or mixer headphone Jack to a headphone amp like this cheap 4-channel job at L&M?

Mixer and a headphone amp is an option. It may be the only affordable one. My drummer friend and I will need to discuss. He is the one with experience in these matters.
I am game to grab some cheap stuff if it works.

Feel like I should update this.
Got this for $200 from Cosmo Music online. My drummer friend came over on Satuday and we tried it, and ended up jamming again on Sunday. Dead simple to set up and it performs as advertised.
We ran my Roland e-drums and Eleven Rack to make the noises. We had a blast while my wife sat upstairs and only heard the occasional noise from the cymbal hits.
As a result, my drummer friend went and bought a set of e-drums today, so he can play without the neighbours coming after him with an axe. We are both ready to get more gear so we can jam with more versatility (Nux MG30? Headrush MX5?). We'll probably get after it again next weekend.
And I have some woodshedding to do.

I live in an apartment complex for seniors so being loud is not an option. I have a Macki 12 channel board I mix everything in with the output into my Presonus interface into the computer and headphone out of the mixer into a 4-channel Beringer headphone amp and up to 4 people can jam at once or record at once in silence. The whole rig cost less than $300.

Sounds like a great idea and you just don't hear much about the concept. How much of a compromise is it compared to real sound without headphones? Is anyone singing? That would be interesting with only vocals being heard from the outside.Rollin Hand wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 8:18 pm Feel like I should update this.

No singing -- just guitar and drums at this point.
You can pipe in vocals as well, if you have the gear.
