Veterans Day or Armistice Day for WWI, in Europe.

First a thought for the many unknowns who were never recovered from the WWI battlefields, never to see their native villages, dead or alive. Someone who would have been my uncle, Marc Adrien, did survive but died in a military hospital and was buried far from home.

Now, here in MA, Frank, the former owner of a house we lived in was a volunteer driver for American Ambulance Service, and that was prior to the U.S. formally entering the conflict, An interesting read, see here

In the attic of Frank's house, I found a French military tag, for an Antoine POLI, enlisted in Tunis, a French colony then, per the markings.
This was likely collected by Frank in the Moselle battlefields.
I have sent countless hours to find a match in the archives, no luck.
So he is my unknown soldier.
The other farm cats didn’t super love him but the chickens thought he was alright so he became a chicken.

Nov 11 was originally Armistice Day here also.
But after WW2 the government decided to honor Vets of all wars not just WW1.

Wish I could help.

In my research of nose art for a guitar refinish (long ago), I found a forum that helps WWII vets find each other through their network. I was able to give a family an unknown sliver of info about one of their relatives via a connection I had. This led to another vet who knew all about this relative. The connection might not have happened if I hadn't had a silly idea for a guitar finish. Funny ol' world, innit?

Perhaps there's a similar forum for WWI vets/families?
"What is this place? Where am I?"
