Finally getting started on the 1st floor. Hope to get that done this weekend so I can install my mini split for ac/heat.
On the first floor I have stapled moving blankets to go between the studs/insulation and the drywall. I should probably have enough to go across and do a second layer of drywall as well.

Need to snap some pics but I've finished my drywall and stairs.
I used about 90 sheets of 5/8 drywall total. I doubled the first floor walls and just did 1 layer everywhere else.
For stairs I did a ship ladder going up in the middle of the room to leave me with 2 14'x14' lofts that I'll probably connect with a cat-walk in addition to the stairs connecting them as well.
Not sure how many bags of rockwool I went through but I imagine it was about 20ish.
Next step is installing my mini split (18k btu on its own 220 circuit).
I was also thinking instead of doing a double door (communicating door) to cut down on sound escaping out the door, im gonna try installing a curtain track on the ceiling surrounding the door and just slide over a couple thick moving blankets attached to the track when I'm in the shed.
I have a 4ft ridge vent installed but not sure what I want to do about leaving a vent or something on the drywall in that spot to let some air escape. I may do a gable vent as well on at least 1 end.

It is looking good, sir! Would you consider solar panels?
I envy your more than generous space! I used to have one whole basement room for my studio. We moved to a new (old) house, and my studio is now confined inside a pantry cabinet in the laundry/utilities room.
We have a good sized backyard and I wish I had your building skills to build my own shed. I look forward to seeing the finished product!

I thought briefly about solar panels when I was digging the 100 ft trench to run the power from my house to the shed, but it's done now.
When I had a small setup like that I got so much more music done. I've not recorded anything since, going on 15 years now. So, a small space can have its good points.
I've done everything except the building itself but with prices now, it would be at least a 50% markup from the price I got 2 years ago

Update pics. Excuse the mess.
Drywall and stairs done.
Will need to pain the stairs and will need some scrap drywall pieces to cover the edge of the lofts and a few other little spots.

It turns out to be 2 14x14 lofts on the 2nd floor.

Ive got about 3 sheets of 1" thick plywood left. I might make some boxes for my speaker cabs and combos and hinge the front to open and close depending on how loud I want to be. I have some light 5/8 plywood I'd probably use for the part that hinges.
Thinking of making 1 loft an acoustic area maybe with my digital drum kit.
The other side of the loft having a TV, games, and my gym set I bout in 2020 I still haven't put together yet. Haven't been to the gym either and my clothes are telling me to go back asap.
1st floor was gonna do my 2 drum sets on the back side of the room, away from the door after the staircase and the front part being guitars only

There really would be some hot rock and roll coming out of there.
@Buddha Pickups your project looks great, and I know you will really enjoy it.
Before I went through one of those, "She Got The Gold Mine I got The Shaft" splits I had a 32' X 32' music room I built in my basement we practiced every Thursday in it for years. You know I really miss that room and my cat Tigger.

I had not but just googled them.
I'm not going to have any natural light for the sole reason of not having too many ways for sound to escape.
As of now my only outlets are the door and my gable vent.

Just got my siding and flooring delivered then I'll be ready for paint and can start setting stuff up. My tube amps probably haven't been used in 10 years...
On my igloo/2nd floor I'm not sure if I want to mud all the drywall seams or just cover them with 1x2's...

I would say, at this point, whatever seems best ( easiest, quickest?) to you. I hate drywall mudding, I'm no good at it, so I would vote for narrow slats.Buddha Pickups wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 9:53 am Just got my siding and flooring delivered then I'll be ready for paint and can start setting stuff up. I went the 1x21's route in my mancave building & am very pleased with the result.Buddha Pickups wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 9:53 am Just got my siding and flooring delivered then I'll be ready for paint and can start setting stuff up. My tube amps probably haven't been used in 10 years...

A bit more work but you can make it look a bit more posh by painting the walls etc. one color and the 1x2's a contrasting color.
That is easy to do if you paint the walls before installing the 1x2's and the 1x2's before installing them. It is alot easier than doing the contrasting colors AFTER they are up!

I've been thinking about doing the 1x2s for months but was hoping the price would drop. They're currently $2 ea in my area. Those things used to be under a buck...mickey wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 12:31 pmI went the 1x21's route in my mancave building & am very pleased with the result.Buddha Pickups wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 9:53 am Just got my siding and flooring delivered then I'll be ready for paint and can start setting stuff up. So to cover the drywall seems on the 2nd floor, not including where it meets the floor (not sure yet if I'm doing base boards, crown mounding, and shoe mounding yet) it'd be about 50 bucks. I suppose that beats doing all that mud work.
I like your idea about pre painting them too.
The color I got for my walls is bamboo so I could probably just paint them white.

Had to ditch my exhaust fan on the 2nd floor and decided to put in a window and a window ac unit. This side of my shed faces the woods and I own the next 300 feet of woods so I ain't worried about a little sound leakage from this side

Also finally getting started on the siding. The woods back behind my shed is rough. I got tore up by chiggers and I picked off about 5 ticks in the 2 hours I worked on this.
I'm treating for bugs before continuing hopefully this weekend. Bathing in OFF too.
