On vacation in South Carolina this past week and my daughter and I stopped by a local music shop and saw this for sale. My daughter really liked the look and we picked it up. I've never heard of these before - it's essentially a 2006 Squier Standard Strat but with a Shepard Fairey Obey art print on the front. Also comes with aged hardware, two alnico 5 single coils and a Duncan Designed HB102B humbucker. From what I've read so far this DD pickup is a JB clone.

Overall the body is in real nice shape. It has a slim C shape neck and everything appears to function ok. Picked it up for $150 but it looks like they go for a bit more when I look at Reverb and Ebay. I think the pickups sound fine but it's going to need a little cleaning up and a good set-up. We'll see if it's a keeper. Here's a few pictures.

That is a great pawn shop score!

Every Squier Standard I've seen in HSS configuration has had a pickguard. It's rare to see a Squier body routed HSS with no pickguard. The only ones that come to mind off the top of my head are the Stagemaster and Showmaster. This one has the vibe of something like a Jackson Dinky, but with the rounded Fender Strat Body, and with three knobs instead of two. Very cool guitar! I would have have been all over that.

I wouldn't get too crazy cleaning up the tarnishing on the hardware either. The Fender Custom Shop would charge you major bucks to purchase a guitar with hardware that has that much character.

Cool! My ex band's guitarist has a Tele version of this; on that the graphics have some color to it and it's H/H config pups. It's quite a solid guitar, far better than his other one, a cheap LTD, is. The pickups aren't anything great but neck is better than most basic Squiers I've come across, rather rigid and feels solid, not that lax soft wood some Squiers have. I quite like the aged hardware too, so I reckon it's a very good catch at that price.
