Thanks! I sold a MIM strat this spring. I know what you mean. It was fine enough, especially for the $325 I paid for it. But unremarkable is probably the best way to describe it.

These have been good for the mostpart but some real lemons do come through,, and several in the last batch or 2, just ask tobijohn. This one did not have the infamous washers under the bridge. It needed a refief adjustment,, intonation and the 12th fret tapped down. 2 of the tuners are installed slightly crooked but do not stand out. The pickups are certainly serviceable but i have others to in go it. Finish is very nice, no issues. Neck shape is a hair thinner then my dauntless.

Happy canada day!
I bought the spalted maple Firefly LP last year sometime before the "washer" debacle thankfully. I didn't play it much and ended up selling it. I never had an LP style before and just didn't love it I guess. Heavy too.

I also had a 338 for a couple years that I liked and used as a platform for minor modding and learning set-up. They were only $139 at the time on Amazon with free shipping. Replaced the bridge, nut, and tuners. Also had to learn how to level, crown, and polish frets. I enjoyed doing that for the most part. It ended up pretty good actually. I wish I hadn't sold it. A friend found this in the trash and gave it to me. Somebody had monkeyed with the tuners and removed the screws without unstringing first (I have no idea what they were trying to do) but it was an easy fix.

I learned how to use vibrato correctly, also how to get the tone out of the gear I've had for a good while.

Only had maybe 20 minutes of actual time plugged in and thought it sounded great. The three position switch were all usable for me - none of them were too harsh, bright or trebly. Tho I'll say I only played one guitar through it (Al 2K with PAF style pups) and with no other pedals. It's a little bit dirty in all the ways that I like. I will report further when I have a chance to put it through its paces for real...

And for the first 20 minutes, it was Brian May, not Rory. But yeah, I'll get there...

What kind of amp are you going through? I've had someone say it didn't sound like the Youtube videos of the pedal built by others. I've used all stock component values. I'm thinking these sellers are voicing it different as it's not really a pedal but meant to be left on all the time and the amp adjusted to find your sound.

I actually thought through my Nobels sound studio headphones that in the stock position it was very trebley. That's what it's supposed to do. I wish i had a old Vox AC30 before the top boost. I do have a Marshall 18w bluesbreaker clone with 2/10's that is slightly dirty by itself and i can see me putting in a few hours with a SG or a tele with a muddy neck pickup. I haven't tried to overdrive a tube amp (original purpose) but it should do that very well.

That's ironic - literally the only thing I did with it was overdrive a tube amp! It just put a little additional hair/body on my sound. I played through my Monoprice 5W with some swapped tubes. I will say in most circumstances I find that amp very bright - almost all pedal/guitar tone controls live below noon through that amp. But I did not find any of the three settings on the rangemaster to be offensively bright. I did not play it very loud, perhaps that will make a difference? And I'm sure stacking it through other pedals will change things, as will using other guitars, and when it sits in a mix with other instruments it will sound different, too. But on first blush, I did not find it harsh. I don't remember what it means to have the switch left, but switch left, boost dimed sounded pretty massive. That was my favorite sound of the first 20 minutes...

Using it with a tele neck pickup is high on the list, though sadly I'm currently waiting for new tele pups, so that may sit. I'm most interested in using it to boost my army of MIAB pedals. I also have a Gretsch semi with pretty bright pups. If the pedal has unwanted treble characteristics, that setup is most likely to amplify them. Like I said, I'll keep updating as I play.

I didn't even open mine - what transistor is inside?

Switch to the left has the biggest capacitor, so probably all frequencies are boosted, i used to call that Sabbath mode. I'm actually winding tele pickups as we speak, i have 43 awg wire being delivered saturday for the neck pickups. I'm doing old style winds and it calls for 8000 turns on the neck pickup which many people complain it is dark. But that's how they were made and that's the sound i am looking for. I've got lots of Yardbird songs on my to-do list which i have heard thousands of times but never bothered to learn so tonebenders and rangemasters it is.

Transistor is a RCA old germanium with a factory part number 40828 i think, which should be close to a 2n408 or thereabouts.

Picked up a PRS CE24. Did not bindwith it and sent it back. Picked up an SE Standard 24 and actually prefer it Over the CE24. The CE sounded better though, but I prefer the playability of the SE. Go figure.

My latest would have to be a Martin Streetmaster Dreadnaught Junior. I am into the smaller body acoustics these days and this one is most excellent. I had another Martin model but did not like anything about it. It sound like crap and played like crap so I sold it. I wanted a Martin in the family so I did some research and settle on this one. I am very happy with it.

Picked up this rack gear plus a few extras. But I really don't need a stereo power amp that outputs 100 watts. One cool thing about rack gear is that you're using it with a preamp or a modeler so it's possible to play this thing at low volumes and still have it sound fantastic. But... that's still a good 50 watts more than my cabinet is rated for so a single mistake with that dial means a blown speaker.

Picked one of these up when they were down to $19 on Sweetwater. Want to see if I can get some improved sounds out of an old Radio Shack amp I have. Still haven't taken it out of the box LOL.

Got this MXR M234 a week or so ago used.
Checked it over to see it works and played with it some.

Sounds good, like it better than the Joyo Analog Chorus - which was ok but there is quite a boost in the treble and no EQ control.

I need to go back and re-learn the intro to Doctor Doctor.
