Just gotta add, this Greenback sounds unfrickin' believable in this amp. I'm amazed at what a tremendous difference it makes. I already liked this amp a lot, though the Celestion 70/80 it came loaded with could get a tad bit bright and spiky. By way of contrast the Greenback is very warm and woody, extremely articulate yet smooth, and has the most pleasing growl when pushed.
If you're going to get one, please do think about ordering from Sweetwater. I do not recommend FedEx delivery however.

Glad you finally got it!
Greenbacks have been popular for what, 55 years now? They have a tone that just works.
And yes, speakers make a huge difference to overall tone. I have seen people making all kinds of mods to amps that have little impact on tone, when what they really needed was to find the right speaker.

That is good news , now hopefully the Vietnamese will stop their exploitation of Marshalll.toomanycats wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 12:07 pm Something else noteworthy: This Celestion Greenback is "Made in U.K." I had read that Celestion production was moving back to England. Apparently this is true.
How much you wanna bet some people are going to start charging more for the older Chinese ones, claiming they are better.

Its like you live in some sort of edge of hell zone out there. Neighbor problems, Building infrastructure nearby, can't get deliveries. It looks beautiful and woodsy to suck you in but maybe something is going on there?toomanycats wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 11:49 am My Celestion Greenback just arrived. The UPS man looked puzzled when I greeted him like a long lost cast away on a deserted island welcoming a boat that just came ashore. I'll have that speaker in my Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 and ready for my gig tonight before you can finish a bag of Tootsie Rolls, Smarties, Atomic Fireballs, and Bit-O-Honey.
So to sum up:
Sweetwater = Good
UPS = Good
FedEx = Bad

Oh, and tonight's gig where I'll begin breaking that Greenback in, at least for a few hours:

@toomanycats , you may want to avoid playing "the Devil's triad" just to be on the safe side.

Too late, I've been learning Randy Rhoads' solo on Ozzy's "Over The Mountain" for the last week. First three notes are root, octave, flat 5th. Sounds super evil.Rollin Hand wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 1:40 pmHellmouth. Has to be.nomadh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:33 pmIts like you live in some sort of edge of hell zone out there. You are tempting fate, my friend. Beelzebub awaits. Or his Florida-based cousin Beelzebubba.
