Agreed. Facebook, for all it's drawbacks, can be pretty cool.
Hardest thing thus far is remembering what day of the week it is. I just haven't really cared about that in quite some time. I always knew when it was Saturday and Sunday because my wife was home, too. After that it would get fuzzy until Saturday rolled around again.

The other farm cats didn’t super love him but the chickens thought he was alright so he became a chicken.
I was laid off a month ago as well. I was working 6.5 hours away from home and would drive home most weekends for a day, then drive back. So in a way it’s a blessing. I was working at a faculty that builds parts and pieces for the military. Management walks up to you with security and escorts you out of the building, making you leave all your personal belongings behind without any notice. Happened to 120 people that day. Not the most personable company to work for.
I am 63 and not the most employable in my field by some and others look at me as the more experienced than the younger generation. Put my guitar builds and upgrades on hold for the moment. Don’t think the wife would appreciate me spending money on a neck that fits my P90 build strat body at the moment. Will see what the future holds. I need to work a few more years before I retire. Good luck to all here who have experienced present job loss.

Damn, man. I hate to hear that for you. I'll definitely send you whatever Western KY mojo I have left. Fair warning, though...it seems to have about a year delay attached to it. Your commute would have absolutely driven me insane. @SamIV Sorry to hear it! I got walked out the same way after 13 years as a Principal Architect - in my case it was international company politics, before COVID attrition existed, but I am sure it felt the same. At the time I was only marginally thinking about when I might retire, but that decision was pretty well made for me because starting over at another company just didn't sound awesome and some other unexpected changes came shortly after. I don't know if you're in the same mindset. If you want to get back in there at another company though, more MOJO to you.
Thanks all. And yes I am just not ready to retire yet. Tried that a few years ago, and it was not for me yet. I am going to get something local hopefully. I am a NACE certified coating inspector, Certified Welding Inspector, and have certs in several Non-Destructive Testing Inspection methods as well. Problem is after covid and with this presidency, military, oilfield, chemical plant and refinery worked has slowed. Salaries have dropped as well. Military contracts have come to a halt. Local work is tight, so I just might have to take on different work. I will find something.
