Simple question, how high (or low as it were) do you wear your guitar? Vote in the poll and please do elaborate in the comments.
Johnny Ramone LOW.
Slash MIDDLE LOW.
Eddie Van Halen MIDDLE.
Tom Morello MIDDLE HIGH.
I have no idea who this guy is, but if you wear your guitar this HIGH there's a 99% chance you're a douche bag.

I allowed for 2 options in the poll after realizing that I myself hang a Les Paul MIDDLE LOW, while hanging a Statocaster MIDDLE. It just seems right, is comfy, and is ergonomic to me that way.

I used to hang 'em middle low, but now I hang 'em all in the middle. For some reason, I now have a harder time playing if it's not in the middle.

I tend towards middle and middle high, in part because I have a big middle.

I think Les is more High Middle in that pic. Mary looks about in the Middle. I have noticed that a lot of county players do tend to wear their guitars High Middle, like Roy Clark in this pic.

Made me think of the scene from sex drugs and rnr where the young singer makes a crack about her older bf about leaving when his balls hang low and he tells about how he had a scrot surgery tuck. As he called it. A sack jack. Some funny stuff in there. Not as good as rescue me but fun story of an aging rock star with dennis leary.

Middle.
I, like @Rollin Hand , used to be a middle low to low guy. I also had six-pack abs. Being an over achiever, I went for the full 1/2 keg and can no longer do the 'lower than middle'.

How middle (-high) is Jeff Beck?
During a PBS pledge drive the other day, I observed JB, up close to the screen, and saw some details of his playing's ergonomics. Interesting.

The Reverend be hanging pretty darn LOW.

I always think low looks cool, but I just can't play as comfortably there. I'm middle, maybe middle-low at lowest. On bass, I feel like I can get away with a lower position.
I've noticed that flamenco guitarists seem to play higher, although not usually so high as to cover their collarbones.
And I get the feeling that in general, it used to be more the "done thing" to wear your guitar what we would call at least middle high now.

Best costume ever. As soon as I walked into the place every chick there wanted to cling to the Pope and get a picture. Seriously if I ever find myself single I will be wearing that get up to the club. The missus dressed as a naughty nun and we won $100 in the contest that night.

On the other side of that, I was in a band that practiced in an old farmhouse in Indiana, and one year on Halloween, we put on a Haunted House/Halloween Show there. I dressed as Satan in a priest's outfit.tonebender wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 10:05 pmBest costume ever. I did not go home alone that night.

To answer the question; I tend to favor the middle position. Though they say you should hang your guitar so it's in the same position as when you're sitting down. I've been trying that with some guitars and basses. Basses tend to feel more comfortable a little higher up. Maybe not mid-high, but more on the belly than across the hips. I guess guitars feel more comfortable to play a little higher up too, but I feel more like a dork.

I'm mid to mid-high. Reason being for best position to keep wrist somewhat easily on plane with forearm to keep tendonitis at bay.

Like mid to mid low, but I play my Vs primarily, I'll fiddle around on everything else for the most part, but I don't even have straps for most of my guitars lol. I put the "belly cut" of the back of the guitar to where the bottom of my belly is I guess would be the best way to explain it lol.
I'd rather have a strap too big than too small for what it's worth.
