For me, as a kid, it was the Mustang, the Corvette and the Beetle. I still want one, but I am having severe C5 Corvette lust right now. The problem is fitting into one.

A Mustang, however, should work.

I don't even have enough time to keep up with the laundry, much less another hobby, but having a classic v8 american piece of iron is on my "one day" bucket list. I'd probably go the route of the Roadkill guys and not worry so much about cosmetic or numbers matching, just something that runs and drives and looks cool.

Growing up for me it was the 69 roadrunner that was the ultimate cool car to have.

In the 70's, my awesome stepdad had a green convertible 67' Mustang. It had the shark gill-slit looking vents on the front panels. Oh yeah!

Back in 64 I couldn't afford a new car. If I could, it sure wouldn't have been a Mustang!
Back then they were just new sheet metal on a Falcon chassis.
If I could have afforded a new car, I would have opted for a Falcon Ranchero.
Come to think of it, I still would compared to a '64 Mustang. :D

I had a '66 (with an awesome straight 6 cylinder engine)...might have been the best 6 cylinder I ever drove...also had a '1970 with a 351 ...nice and fast..almost died a few times in that one

My Dad owned a '62 Comet in beige for as long as I can remember...when it came time for my brother to get a car (1971) he offered it to him...my brother foolishly declined and set off on a string of mostly broken down foreign heaps. That Comet was a great car.

Steamboat hosts the Rocky Mountain Mustang Round-up every year (except last year and this year) - boo!

I'm a huge car guy, but never cared for Mustangs much. Give me a 69 Shelby and that's another story, but the original to me was nothing more than a ugly, boxy, chick car. Camaros, Vettes, even Challengers would be higher on my list. I love my vette, probably never buy anything else for fun.

Never much cared for the 1st gen Mustang, but my neighbor has a '65 California Special that has sat in their driveway sans engine as long as I have lived in my house (2008). It would be a perfect restomod candidate, a new Godzilla crate motor would be fun in that light of a car...

'68 Fastback would be my choice of a vintage Mustang (after a 70/71 Torino Wagon and Ranchero, I need one of each).
