I finally have something in common with Joe Bonamassa. No, not talent... We've both had guitars in FedEx's possession stolen from us. Hope he gets his back. https://www.guitarworld.com/news/joe-bo ... g-nocaster
Well, that sucks... But I don't really feel that bad for him. He must have had insurance on it, and it's not like it was a real Nocaster. I'm sure the Custom Shop can make him another one.

Fair enough... he isn't going to go hungry. Mine had insurance and FedEx never took care of any aspect. It's incredibly frustrating when you know what the right thing is and the company responsible won't step up.
Yeah, in my opinion, FedEx is the worst. I'd rather ship via USPS than FedEx. Not that I think they would take any more responsibility for a missing package than FedEx, but I've never had any problems with them.BatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 12:29 amFair enough... he isn't going to go hungry. Speaking of USPS, I actually had a package disappear and they settled the claim immediately. I was shocked as to how hassle free it wasMossman wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 12:53 amYeah, in my opinion, FedEx is the worst. I'd rather ship via USPS than FedEx. Given the cryptic "two weeks in brackish custodial custody", it sounds like 1) it had been stolen, and 2) they know who stole it. But that's just my read of it. Very cool that it was recovered.ILuvTeles wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 9:23 am It is a miracle...

Theft sucks all around, no matter who possesses that which is stolen. Wish you luck in recovering your item or equivalent compensation.

I had a few minor things stolen off the stage over the years. SM58's were the most popular. I had a bouncer chase a guy 3 blocks and beat the living snot out of him for making him chase. Making it worse, the guy was a regular at the bar and was black-out drunk when he did it. The owner paid for the mic without me asking, which was very nice.
Battle of the Bands and multi-band festivals. I know many people who got their guitars or amps nicked.

Yeah when I was gigging some of my friends used to jokingly give me crap for never letting any of my gear leave my sight...if we had dinner before the show I was sitting there with my Suhr in a gig bag at my feet. Not very comfortable but no one walked off with it, so it was worth itandrewsrea wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 7:02 pm ^ I believe in Karma.

I've never had anything stolen but I'm like slowhand84 as much as I can be. Once, after a gig, I was sitting there, having a drink and keeping an eye on the band gear across the room (it was a small room, so we're talking like ten feet away), and this guy goes over the pile of gear and starts kind of touching my Flying V case and running his fingers over it in a suspiciously focused kind of way. I got up and stomped over to him and said in a friendly but unnecessarily loud voice, "HI! DO YOU LIKE MY GUITAR? IT'S NICE, ISN'T IT?" He stuttered some excuse and scurried off. That just reinforced my decision not to let stuff out of my sight.
Also tangentially related, this came up today, not theft but general shipping-company crappiness: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bees-milli ... eeks-dead/
In case you ever had any doubts about how little they care about your package...Most of more than a million bees shipped by a Pennsylvania distributor died when they were left on a hot UPS truck for weeks, CBS Boston reports.
