Somebody must be shopping Amazon, after all a certain Bezos guy just ordered a $500,000,000 yacht
and a $250,000,000 support boat because the main one doesn't have room enough on the deck to land
a chopper, so he ordered the second one to have a heliport. Supposedly, if you make $50,000 per year
this is like spending $130 when you consider what he makes.
Anyone ever tried Amazon warehouse deals guitars
yeah but maybe a bassist or drummer would be even better.
kinda weird they took it back once in spite of the radiation. lol. two radioactive returns, that's where they draw the line!andrewsrea wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 12:11 pmJim Schaffner got a couple of deals from Amazon Warehouse, including a very nice Vox AC15 with a Celestion Blue that I really liked. But the one you are recollecting I think was a Peavey Delta Blues. The story I remember it was returned from the first purchaser, Jim got it significantly discounted and it did not work when he received it. Amazon did not want it back (for radiation?), refunded his money and told him to keep it. After 30 minutes with me on my bench, it was right as rain.golem wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:44 pm I remember Jim ordering from there. It arrived with an issue so he went to do a return and they gave it to him for free because it had been exposed to radiation! Of course, I might be misremembering the story but @andrewsrea will back me up on that being the general gist as he fixed the issue with the amp relatively cheaply.
@voodoorat if Jim was on here more often he could comment and clear up the radiation part. I remember as maybe not being said in a straightforward but phrased in a few words that made my mind think "radiation?!". Hence maybe why Rob doesn't just straight up same I'm wrong as it was something maybe a bit more open to interpretation.
I bought one of these closet guitar hangers so I can hang a guitar on my bathroom door to take photos (the bathroom gets the most sunlight in the morning). It's meant for Just find somewhere else to put all your wife's clothes, and there you go... Instant guitar storage!
I have a fairly large closet in my bedroom... Why I'll bet I could hang over a dozen guitars in there and still have room for my clothes (since my ex freed up about 85% of that space when she moved out). It would be a shame to let it go to waste!

It was definitely some strange reason and definitely health risk related, of why Amazon did not want it returned. I kind of remember it was one of those strange California laws that because it had components that presented certain health risks or the like. It wasn't convincing enough to make me concerned.golem wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 7:58 pm @voodoorat if Jim was on here more often he could comment and clear up the radiation part. Those new HB Explorers now seem to have disappeared from Thomann's site...

Saw that last night, guess I should have ordered one. Maybe they were just samples.

Once you got used to them though I bet the extra fingers really helped with your fretting and finger style.andrewsrea wrote:It was definitely some strange reason and definitely health risk related, of why Amazon did not want it returned. I got it today, much better than I thought it would be. Box a little worse for wear, but guitar is in better shape than something off the rack at a guitar store.
One dent on the back is $155 difference between full price and what I paid. In the artificial scarcity of the moment, the cheapest one on Reverb at the moment is still like $100 more than I paid.
Still had the pickguard film in place and hang tag for inspector and prop 65.
I checked the truss rod, all frets, nut and anything else I could think to and I am stumped why it was listed as used: acceptable instead of something less ominous.

They are back on the site again. I'll be waiting on a B stock white one. The natural one is too much like my natural Gibson Explorer and Vhonyock wrote:Saw that last night, guess I should have ordered one. Maybe they were just samples.

How about a link to the natural one? It doesn't come up in my saved left hand search. If I search for EX-76, I just get right-handed onees. TIA...

I've found lately that some online retailers list customer returns as "used", instead of "open box". The Ibanez that I recently bought from zZounds was listed as "used" on the website, and I thought: "How is it that zZounds is selling used guitars??" But when I called them, the sales rep said that's what they call customer returns. I suppose "used" is a little more accurate, but yeah, it makes you think you might get a guitar that's all dinged up and scratched.

I just bought 4 more, the all black Amazon Basics ones, they look OK to me though slightly smaller brackets.tobijohn wrote:Two words - boarding school. The quality of your sleep will improve as well...
So replace the five you already have with a style that's easily matched:

I'm waiting on another box of twenty...
I also just filled 2 of the newly opened slots with a Thomann order, TE90 Cabronita style and one of the Mustang style with the JM vibrato.
I liked the righty HB Stang I had and painted in the Gulf racing livery, I just wanted a lefty.
Shipping is so strange with Thomann. I literally had the same things in my cart a day ago and it was $100, today it was $60. I've put just the Mustang in my cart and it has been $80, other times I've put one of those Ric style basses in my cart and it was $2 less for the bass and Mustang than just the Mustang alone.

IIRC, you fabricated the lower pickguard piece on the right-handed Mustang. If you're planning on doing that with this one, let me know. I don't have one of the HB MS-60s yet but will eventually and would like to duplicate that. At one time I was researching a lefty version of the piece but didn't have much success, either because of dimensions or price. I'm sure I'll have a few other questions for you regarding that model as well...honyock wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 1:45 pm

That was actually just a purchased Mustang piece.tobijohn wrote:IIRC, you fabricated the lower pickguard piece on the right-handed Mustang. I'll buy a lefty like this when the time comes for a pickguard.

I also need to re-find the correct 3 way sliding switches instead of the simple on-off that come on this so I can get the full Mustang switching setup.
