I've never seen a lefty 4000. TJ probably has 3.uwmcscott wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 7:00 pm I've seen a handful of 3500's here and there but not many. There was that one in birds-eye maple that had the "finish cracks" in the headstock that was floating around Reverb forever and I think was at Guitar Center for a while too. Other than that, though, they are pretty rare. Even rarer is of course the 4000, which is basically a 3500 with Duncan Pickups, i've never seen one of those for sale.

i checked out the rondo site for the first time in months and wow... it's a six string desert. a handful of the headless amoeba shapes and that's about it. honestly there's not much of anything except bass ukeleles for whatever reason. wonder if it'll ever restock after the pandemic.
Yep, Rondo got out of the music business when they started into those weird multi-string EGR things.voodoorat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 8:06 am i checked out the rondo site for the first time in months and wow... it's a six string desert. a handful of the headless amoeba shapes and that's about it. honestly there's not much of anything except bass ukeleles for whatever reason. wonder if it'll ever restock after the pandemic.

Check all the COVID updates on the main page, he speaks to that with some ongoing updates. He's in the same boat as everyone else in the business, but he's been doing it longer than most. My guess is he'll figure out a way to get back in the game.

I just ordered this UKE from Rondo for my great grandsons 3rd birthday coming up and if they are pretty good I'll get another one for that price for him to play here when ne comes to visit and maybe keep him away from my guitars. If you play a UKE they seem to still have plenty of them left.

[s]I just bought the B-stock red 1/2 scale lefty strat for my 7 year old. She has been bugging me about getting a guitar for a while now. (She is even more left handed than I am)[/s]
She has a beat up little plastic uke that I'll give to my almost 3 year old.
Or not...Rondo poor stock management strikes, refunded instead of shipping.

Hmm, maybe I should pitch Kurt on a double cutaway uke? What finishes would you guys be interested in?

Looks like a couple of pre-orders creeping in..but the delivery date is 12-21. Not actually too surprised by that, at work we are seeing a 5-7 month wait time on destkop/laptop orders. I think the "supply chain" issue is going to be with us for a while.
Also, like usual looks like Lefty's get all the good stuff first

If it was CSBF I might have been mildly interested but that SG funhouse mirror shape doesn't do it for me. Also, Epiphone currently has two left-handed SGs that list for $450...uwmcscott wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 6:27 pm ...Also, like usual looks like Lefty's get all the good stuff first

I used to have the same opinion. It looks odd sitting straight up... but when you strap it on and put it in a playing position, it actually looks natural.

We've become spoiled of importing CHEAP goods outsourced to other countries and lost a good deal of our manufacturing base/expertise.uwmcscott wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 3:31 pm Rondo is not the only one in this state, check Kurt’s Covid blog on the main page for updates. At work we are looking at 3-5 MONTH wait times on laptops and desktop computers right now. Carmakers are halting production due to component/chip shortages.
Bottom line, we’ve become spoiled and being able to get whatever we want, whenever we want will take a backseat for a bit methinks.
We are reaping what we've sown.

This summer and fall might be lucrative times to trim the herd of stragglers and nags.
People will be hungry with economy getting back up, and availability should still be low.
I'm not sure if I'd feel right, not taking a substantial loss on selling guitars.

I can't say I ever cared for the look of Valkyrie... The left-handed ones look even weirder.

That's Kurt's answer for everything... Just make it offset!

I had a Valkyrie pass through here a year or two ago. I dislike offsets, but like @dabbler said, it looks much better in person. Could barely notice the hump.
For whatever reason, I never bonded with it, and sold it pretty quickly.

In many cases the unemployment packages have exceeded take home pay. A person with a family has a fiduciary responsibilty to not take a pay cut to go back to work. This is causing a major labor shortage. Fast food joints in this area and mom and pop restaurants are reducing hours and closing because they cannot get anyone to come to work. MacDonald's in some areas are paying people $50 to fill out an application. The unintended consequences of free money to some paid by others.

Ya know Jeff, while I think we all agree that governments are a necessary evil, it seems there are always unintended consequences irrespective of the form of government, geographic location, political beliefs or what the governments do.tonebender wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 9:23 am In many cases the unemployment packages have exceeded take home pay. Incidentally, I hit the point in 1998 where I made more money by staying home than I did by working. I've never made as much money in my life as I do today. Seems a real pity to have to quit work to increase your income, but in my case it is true. Guess that is why I've bought twenty-something guitars since 1998? (And let us not discuss cars!)
