Has anybody here heard of "Woot!"? It's like a clearing-house for Amazon's surplus inventory, or something. They always have random stuff in stock that frequently changes, and they send you these quirky emails to let you know about new stuff they got in. Ordinarily, I'd consider that a nuisance and unsubscribe, but they sometimes have some cool items at cheap prices. Sometimes you see some things on there that you never knew you wanted, or needed... Other things... Nobody needs.
When I came across Pet Cube's "First Generation Camera for Pets", I couldn't resist leaving a comment:

Yeah Woot has been around for quite a few years now, it's basically the same idea as Groupon and all those other sites but specifically focused at tangible products. I've purchased a few cool tech-related items there over the years.Mossman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 1:57 am Has anybody here heard of "Woot!"? Thank you @Mossman for sending me to another place to watch money extracted from my wallet. I hope it's not like MF's Stupid Deal of The Day I've got enough gadgets that's never been used to start a music store I will unfortunately be checking this out.
Thanks for the tip my friend.

A few years, huh? I just found out about it a few months ago. Surprising, since I've been an Amazon Prime member for several years... I thought it was a new thing.
I've bought a few T-shirts from them, but not any gadgets. I'm not prone to impulse purchases, but I have seen a few items there that make me think: "Hey! I could use something like that". But then I keep on browsing and forget about it.
Heheh... My biggest complaint about SDOTD is that they rarely have anything I'm even remotely interested in buying, so I forget it exists for long stretches of time, until someone comes along on the forum posting about some cool thing they got as a SDOTD that I actually needed/wanted. Then I start checking it every day for a while, but it's nothing but mic stands, and guitar stands, and frickin' orthopedic harmonicas for a week and a half, so I drift away again.redman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 11:57 am Thank you @Mossman for sending me to another place to watch money extracted from my wallet. I love their tee shirts! Lots of cool weird stuff, like Python themed ones. This one is a personal favorite:

Yeah, the Monty Python shirts are great. If I had seen that one, I would have bought it. I got this one a few months ago... It spoke to both my love of Monty Python and 8-bit computer games:
I also got these from Woot!:
And these two are on the way:
You can waste a lot of time scrolling through their T-shirts and not even come close to seeing all of them. I usually only look at the ones they have on sale, but I got sucked in the other day, endlessly scrolling through T-shirts.

No, the Amazon affiliation came about I think in about 2010 or so.Mossman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:56 pmWow.... It's weird that I never heard of them until last year. I would have thought that Amazon was still only selling books back in 2004... But I'm not sure. I don't remember exactly when I started paying attention to Amazon.slowhand84 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 8:04 pmNo, the Amazon affiliation came about I think in about 2010 or so.Mossman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:56 pmWow.... Nah Amazon had already expanded way beyond books by the early 2000s.Mossman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 8:14 pmI would have thought that Amazon was still only selling books back in 2004... Ugh, I meant "wearing." I guess everyone is used to interpreting auto-correct at this point.Mossman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:51 pmbleys21 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 10:06 pm I love their tee shirts! Lots of cool weird stuff, like Python themed ones. This one is a personal favorite:
