Just wondering... in years past there was some peak Superbowl talk among us.
Not much this year, that I see?
Locally, now that TB has relocated, much less silly GOAT rah-rah going on.
Anyway, football fans enjoy the game, drinks and food!
No Superbowl excitement..?

I'm super psyched.
Don't know who to root for. I was a Brady/Patriots/Belichik hater for a LONG time...but the dude is the GOAT...and how can you root against a guy who is 43 and led the Suckaneers to the SB???
But, I'm also a big fan of Mahomes...and I'm so happy for the Chiefs that they are SB team again. They had such a LONG drought.

None here. But I have never watched a football game. Tho I have tried upon occasion. They are simply so deathly dull that I fall asleep.
They just stand around and talk (plus play grab ass with each other) for about 5 minutes at a time, then they play ball from about 5 to 30 seconds.
Then repeat.

I'll read about it tomorrow.
All I know is that KC looks good to me, so bet big on the Bucs!

Alternate: the Six-Nations rugby tournament starts soon (now?)
There' s more sustained action there.
(still looking for my VPN tips...)

I like college football and watch a few NFL games depending on who (people) are playing, but NFL never influences any plans. I am making bread and simmering Ragu for canning and also to eat tonight. I might even pickup a guitar and play today.

First of all I'm not so impressed with Brady. 3 superbowl losses?!? Even I have 0 superbowl losses so big whoop.
I just dont care about superbowl but we have some family and a friend that we are already intertwined with so good reason to try and expose us all at one time, right? So eat some munchies and I'm hoping i can drag my kid and his friend out to play some music in the garage before. How my kid became a football fan only reflects on me as a horrible father to somehow let that happen.

I've been a football fan since childhood. It blows my mind that anyone in the United States isn't a fan...The main issue for me is the injuries. I hate that stuff and wish they'd fix the situation by taking away helmets and pads.

The introduction and development of helmets paved the way for brain injury, paralysis, etc.
This is what I wish the NFL would return to:

Football is actually the one professional sport that I enjoy. Being a Packers fan it's disappointing that we aren't in it this year of course, especially since we played so well all year long and then just completely choked against TB.
I'll watch the game because I still view the SB as a cultural event, but with everything that's happened over the last year I'm not sure I'll ever look at them the same, even if the Packers are playing. It is just a game at the end of the day.
On the Tom Brady thing, I'm really not a fan but his success is undeniable, and I think the year he put up in Tampa does put him at the very top of the GOAT conversation unquestionably. Hearing some of the other players on the Bucs talk about how hard he works and how well he motivates them is pretty impressive. I don't see him as a guy I'd like to hang out with, but he's very much a master of his craft..one of the best ever. And as much as I'd love to see KC just completely wipe the floor with them and sack him like 15 times, part of me would like to see him win as he has very much put in the work to get there.

Well, I can find a few - getting our asses handed to us at home in possibly our last hurrah with A-rod is one. Don't forget that Tampa Bay used to be in our division too and were quite a rival for many years - back in the Brett Favre/Warren Sapp days. I also think Patrick Mahomes is the real deal and I'd like to see him add to his growing legacy. But yes, Brady deserves more credit and his focus/drive to be the best is admirable.peskypesky wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 5:13 pm And how can you not root for a guy who is 43 freaking years old? Well, that was pretty anticlimactic - Brady was good but KC's defense also pretty much gift wrapped that for them with all the boneheaded penalties. TB has a lot of good coordinators too, if Brady stays on next year they will be a contender again for sure.

that game was over by the middle of the second quarter. In fact, I said to my gf about a minute in to the second "this is over." She said "but it's early!". And I said, "Tampa came to play, on both ends. The Chiefs have no offense whatsoever, and a weak defense. Ovah."

I am a huge football fan. I've been a Pats fan for my whole life and I unabashedly worship at the altar of Brady. I honestly wasn't sure how I would feel yesterday, but I'm actually really happy, and for two reasons. One, because he has provided some memorable moments in my life - losing 28--3 in the third quarter of a Super Bowl and coming back. That wasn't a game, that was like a life event. My daughters watched that. To this day, when they think the odds are stacked against them, they know what 28-3 means. He has provided me more happiness than any sports fan deserves.
Also, and this is more important for me I think, he's just the f@cking best. Watching him play quarterback is like listening to Hendrix play the guitar. He is a master who is somehow still at the top of his craft. Watching the best be the best is cool

I don't have cable and I just stream from free sites like Pluto and Peacock and have an inside antenna for local but can't get CBS so I didn't watch this year. Why did they move from FOX I can get that.
