Sounds like what my wife experienced. Second shot caused a lot of aches after a few hours. Good luck!

BTW, the aches lasted less than 24 hours for her. Not the best thing, but not too bad and much better than dying.

Got my first jab today! After several days in phone queues and crashing websites, I literally stumbled into an appointment. Someone decided to cancel theirs so a slot opened up and I stepped in. Moderna - I’ll let you know how it goes. So far so good!

Woke about quarter til 2 feeling really bad

Made it to the bathroom before the vomit & liquid potty started.
Sat there for about 20 minutes before it was over.
Lucky it is a 1/2 bath here in the shop building as I was able
to sit on the pot and hang my head in the shower.

5am. Still weak and achy all over. The second one sure is rougher than the first.

7:30ish And my arm is still a bit sore (but nothing like it was) and all the weak & achy feeling is pretty much history.

Hope you fell better Mickey. I do not qualify yet for the vaccine but having Covid in December should prevent me from getting it again until I am eligible. From your description and speaking only for me, the Covid was not as bad as the shot except for the 10 days of isolation. Maybe that means the shot won't be as bad for me either.

Oh, I'm back to normal aside from slight soreness in my arm.
An RN told me this morning (I've known her since high school)
That was my immune system thanking me for getting the vaccine!
And what I went thru is waay better than a month in ICU.
But I'm sure as hell not making her look forward to getting her second shot.

Seriously, if you google corona virus symptoms, you are apt to have any or any combination of them following the second shot
for about 12 to 36 hours.

You can get the vaccines at CVS or PUBLIX in Florida, I dunno if you have to be 65+ tho.

Glad to hear things are back to normal for the most part and that the discomfort wasn't too long or severe. And I agree, a day or so of feeling crappy is much preferable to the potential negative outcomes of not getting it.

The husband of one of my wife's co-workers went from basically having a cold to dead in about 3 weeks, and he was 51 years old and otherwise completely healthy. Certainly a rare situation, but then again so is getting in a car accident, and most of us buy car insurance. Paying your monthly bill certainly hurts a little in the pocketbook, and you may never even need it...but that one time you do need it and don't have it can have dire consequences.

One just wonders how this happens. but it does.

I had casually read about pandemics here and there before. Early on, my belief was that modern public health tools and practices would stop the progress of the disease relatively quickly.
And here we are.

That is sorta why I started the thread, I seem to be one of the first to get the vaccine.
How effective it is I can't say, but it sure gives a lot of peace of mind having done it.

Getting Moderna this coming week being in a priority batch as an educator.

I had a little chat with my doc the other day about the vaccine hesitations and conspiracies. He said he was disappointed with those people because this pandemic will not be gone unless everyone gets vaccinated. He said it will not affect fertility or any of those silly stories and that the technology used to make the vaccines has been existing for a long time.

Round 2 (Moderna) complete at 8:30am cst today. So far doing OK, had very little side effects on round 1 so hoping for the same this time.

I know one person who said the opposite, but everyone else I know who has spoken on the subject has said the
side effects are a lot worse with shot #2. I know it was for me.
But as you have said, side effects are nothing compared to the alternative!

24 hours in and so far ( knock on wood ) just a sore shoulder. My division director had hers at the same time yesterday morning and she said she woke up feeling pretty crappy around 2am and decided to take a sick day to rest.

Both of my parents had their 2nd shot last Friday and neither of them had any side effects at all. They are both in their 80's and my dad joked that waking up sore and tired is just part of being 85

An interesting add on here. I know a couple nearing 60 but generally in good health. The both got the covid and were in a few days feeling decently miserable. Flu like. And KAiser asked them to come in for a test IV treatment. Took about an hour but both of them went from feeling it to gone within the first few min. I suppose some of that could just be the IV liquids. That usually helps some then add in the plecebo effect. But really neither expected to feel much anything that day vbut they were both stunned. IT was a long crazy name with 3 initials but it was basically synthesized antibodies. He asked if this took the place of the vaccine and they said as of now no but its so new they really don't know.

I am pretty sure that there will be plenty of treatments coming out for COVID as well to go along with the vaccines. Most epidemiologists seem to agree that COVID19 will likely become endemic to our population just like the flu and the common cold so it will always be here. Our collective immunity, treatments and vaccines will help lessen the effect. Look at HIV - there was a time when it was also considered to be a worldwide pandemic and contracting it was an eventual death sentence. Fast forward to now and it still very much exists, but treatments and prevention measures have improved substantially.
