Y’all may know that Mickey and I did a swap last fall! This Gretsch has been my go to since. It has brought back my love for chord melodies. Threw some flat wound 11’s on there and love it.

Cheers!

I'm just glad that you are as pleased with it as I am with your old Martin. :D

Gorgeous.

My brother bought a Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman last fall...and it is the single best electric guitar I've ever laid hands on. The neck plays like a dream. Effortless, and the tone is to die for...And of course, it looks like a million bucks.

My Douglas WNO-650BR may look like a Gretsch at first glance....and at $240, it was a helluva bargain....

but I guess sometimes there is a reason why expensive guitars cost so much.

But....I'm still sticking with my Douglas. :)

Your Douglas harkens me back to the "good old days" of rondo when we were all chasing b-stocks, AL-2000's were on sale for well under $200 on a regular basis and he had entire pages of semi-hollow's from Douglas, Agile etc. I had one of the big jazzbox Douglas' for a while, don't remember the model but it was also under $200.

Most likely either a Douglas WNO-630 or a WNO-640, those were the two largest Douglas models that Rondo sold.
The WNO-640 is even a decent (beater quality) acoustic guitar if you put acoustic strings on it. :D
I still have one of each.

Absolutely gorgeous Gretsch. And bonus points for opening you up to a new style. That’s why we buy all this crap, right? Congrats!

Those were definitely the glory days...It really saddens me that Kurt went in the direction he did...but it's his business.

I'm glad I got a few Rondo guitars while the getting was good. An AL-2000, a Douglas WNO-650BR, and an SX EG7.

Interestingly, only the last was bought from Rondo. Found the other two on NYC Craigslist.

Thank you! I’m in a rental at the moment and close on my new house next Thursday. I’ll finally have my amp back after FOUR MONTHS. I can’t wait to hear what I’ve learned through it!

I’m also shopping for a new amp. I’m torn between -
Tone Master Deluxe Reverb
Real Deluxe Reverb
Hot Rod Deluxe

They all have huge pluses in my head.

Even backwards, that guitar is super cool! I've never seen a purple Gretsch before. Is that a 6120?

Actually, a 6122-1959. Quite a different animal from a 6120.

It is really rich! I really tried to capture the color as the last pictures I took made it look lighter!

That's sweet. What's your current amp? It seems like you have a thing for the Fender Blackface style (not that there's anything wrong with that :D )...

I had many amps that were eaten in a fire. In my delirium I ordered a Carvin V3M as they had just come out. I must have gotten a good one. Just swapped a V1 and it sounds great. But I miss my Fender tones!!

We like to ignore that period of time, the two of us. It was a low beginning to a bright relationship lol.

The ole Gent is definitely loved make no mistake!
