I was actually on Reverb when I spied this Callisto for $99.00 new from Rondo. Now I had saw this on Rondo's site several times for $149 and put it in my cart a couple of times but for some reason just didn't buy it. I had give my Liquid my only other P90 guitar to my grandson so at $99.00 I just couldn't say no I feel a mod coming on.
This is it. https://www.rondomusic.com/product10236.html
Just got a great deal at Rondo

It is slim pickings I have a friend that owns a brick and mortar music store near me called Music City Asheville and I was talking to him yesterday and he was saying there are no Asian guitars available as well as other products. His bread and butter are Epi's and he just can't get them because of the covid. He said people wanted to buy but he just can't get inventory. I've also noticed the big boys like Sweetwater have a lot of stuff that's "out of stock". I guess that a lot of things are stuck on ships and docks.
That probably explains why I had a hard time getting an Epi 335 Figured. Back in November, my Sweetwater rep said they would be getting more at the end of December, and I was supposed to get a notification when they arrived, but that never happened, and now they're saying they'll be back in stock "in a few months". Every time the other retailers got some in stock, they would sell out in a couple of days. I just thought the guitar was super-popular.redman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 6:41 amIt is slim pickings I have a friend that owns a brick and mortar music store near me called Music City Asheville and I was talking to him yesterday and he was saying there are no Asian guitars available as well as other products. Sweet, that looks like a great buy and I like the finish. Will you replace parts, wiring, etc. or are those good as is?
I think the pickings are pretty slim around here as well. Before I bought my Agile back in the Fall, I was also considering a Squier Classic Vibe and went to a local store that normally has quite a few Fender, PRS, and Gretsch items but they did not have much and had no idea when they would get anything else in. I went by another shop that used to sell Fender and Michael Kelly but they had stopped selling both lines and had guitars from a South American company (do not recall the name). Some were made in Korea and some in China.

Yep, it feels like 2:00 AM at the bar. A balsa wood 9 string left handed bass Ukulele is about all that is left, and I guess it doesn't look TOO bad.Stoli wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 5:28 pm Sweet, that looks like a great buy and I like the finish. They were not D'Andre. The name was in a cursive type writing on the headstock and I could not make it out. I think the store person told me the name but I do not recall. As I remember, they had telecaster, strat, and LP copies. The tele and strat copies were about $200 and the LP copies were about $400 and something and priced pretty closely to the Agile LPs. The LP copies looked very similar to the Vintage brand that I had seen before. I did not pay that much attention to them but they looked nice and some guy in the store plugged in and was wailing on one of the telecasters. They were nice looking guitars. I am not sure as to the whole story but this little shop is in a small town and had been at the same place for years. As I understand things the rent got too high for them and they moved and do not have as much space. I think a lot of their business is renting audio equipment and setup if needed as I know they have a really good reputation for that. That little shop was wiped out on strings. Just odd brands and guages and they were very well stocked with most anything you would want when I had visited their store before.
I read someplace that Covid had driven an uptick with people deciding to try to play guitar and that apparently put a lot of pressure on the lower priced models that you commonly see in stores. I had noticed that a lot of the Squiers were out of stock, backorder, etc. on the major retailer websites back when I was trying to look at the Classic Vibes. I did get to play a Jazzmaster that I liked a lot and a telecaster that I did not care for at the first store. The telecaster was one of those that had what looked like a humbucker type pickup and a single coil in the neck. That was basically all they had.

GREAT guitars and at a price you can't beat.
This is mine, albeit same footprint but a step up from the one above, in Candy Apple Red.
Modded the Sheet out if it! Locking tuners, roller bridge, Dimarzio Super Distortion in the neck position, Gibson Mini HB in the neck position, Fishman Triple Play for Midi Virtual Instrument Generation. I added a Gibson Fine Tuning Tailpiece AFTER this pic was taken.
Rocks The Kazbah!
Paid $149 + shipping for it years ago.

The new Callisto came today and I was incredibly pleased with my purchase at $99.95 this is the best guitar for under $100 I've ever picked up. Not crazy with the colors but there are no paint bleeds, bubbles or cracks that I can find. @LightWingStudios I plan to mod this one as well that said I most likely will not change the P90's because I think they sound great. It was playable out of the box but does need a set up The nut needs addressed so will probably just change it out no fret sprout may change the bridge and saddles definitely changing out the machines.
They had some cool bubble wrap on this one.

Thats nice looking, IMO. And I like SX p90's too.

Cool beans, man! But with SX guitars, the nut always needs addressed...
...as well as the tuners and bridge.
But modding is what these things are for.

Bringing back memories of the "good ole days"
The blue one set me back $99 and the yellow one was $69 from Rondo back in the day.
- I still have both & both have had several upgrades.

Amazing consistancy. I bough mine years ago and mine also was very high quality over all but lousy nut, great pickups.redman wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 6:52 pm The new Callisto came today and I was incredibly pleased with my purchase at $99.95 this is the best guitar for under $100 I've ever picked up.
