The only thing worse than having a vasectomy is having a second one because it didn't "take" the first time around. First time was honestly not very painful at all. The second time the doc said he went "more agressively" to make sure it worked and I definitely needed the frozen peas for a while.
This vasectomy talk has unlocked a childhood memory of mine. I remember being confused why my dad had either ice or frozen vegetables on his crotch. I was also curious why he was down in the basement with me, watching me play video games. He usually didn't do that. Looking back at it now, I would guess he was reminding himself that the pain was worth it???
@mickey , I'll be curious how you feel after the second shot. It's supposed to be worse. I have 3 family members in the medical field who have gotten it (only 1 with the 2nd dose as of now). None of them have gotten side effects besides the usual soreness of a flu shot. I also have a bunch of friends who have gotten the shot, but I haven't heard about any side effects or lack there of from them.

Going in tomorrow for my second shingles shot—first one only a slightly stiff arm for one day, could still knock out some tunes, so here's hoping! Then on to Covid vaccine as soon as I can—I'm in the age range (turn 79 this year. Eek !!!)

Thank you @mickey and the others who chimed in that they got the vaccine. Getting vaccines, especially one that was fast-tracked and has new technology, demonstrates a brave respect for others around you.
I am signed up for Missouri Phase 2 (which I find placating, as there are really 4 phases: 1a, 1b, 1c & 2). My wife signed up today form Phase 1c (she has an autoimmune disease). Unless the process accelerates, I expect she'll get one in the March - April timeframe and I sometime deep in the 2nd quarter.
Hoping that all protections will lead us to more social lives once again. I would really like to go to a nice restaurant, a movie and a concert!

This morning, I was listening to a DJ on my local community radio, where I know a number of people, and I said to myself "After we are done with this, there is going to be a whole lot of hugging and it will be very sweet!"

I just found out today that the healthcare organization I work for is making it available to ALL employees, not just frontline docs/nurses. So I'm signed up to get round one next week. They've largely been doing Moderna but now have one site that is doing Pfizer exclusively, so you can actually choose. The Pfizer site is about 2 hour drive for me as I work remotely, the closest Moderna location is only about 45 minutes. I'm not technically High-Risk ( 50 and otherwise healthy ) but neither was the husband of one of my wife's co-workers and he passed away at 51 last month. So I think I'm going to get mine relatively soon also.

I hope so. trying not to set my expectations too high. I feel bad for my son in PA - seems to be way behind other states. He is high risk as he survived Tuberculosis and is allergic to almost all antibiotics. Pretty much if he gets pneumonia, he is screwed.

Only one tested that way, but the others are showing significant benefits starting around day 12 after the first dose. So, be careful at least 2 weeks after dose one, and then your odds start improving dramatically where you will be less likely to get sick and even if you do, severity is likely to be less. What we don’t know yet is how long the protection from just one dose will last as that hasn’t been tested yet. So for now, definitely plan on getting the second dose until more studies are done that say otherwise.
Round one of 5g/tracing inoculation received today (Moderna version). So far so good, although you guys probably can already tell by tracking my vitals.

I took a new job with a healthcare organization recently, so we got early access to the vaccine. Frontline workers got it first, and they opened it up as of last week to all employees that are onsite at any of our hospital locations. I am in the latter category and even though I'm not onsite every day I'm very thankful to have the opportunity.

Well, I was scheduled for my second shot of the Covid-19 vaccine at 10am this morning.
As it is between 30 & 40 miles from here to where they are giving the shots and
every foot of that is under construction (widening from 2 lane to 4 lane highway)
I left here at 9am.
Arrived there at 9:30, waited in line and/or filled out forms until 10:30.
Got the shot at 10:30 but they would not allow you to leave the parking lot for
15 minutes after getting the shot. Thus at 10:45 I was on the road running other errands.
They were warning folks the side effects from the 2nd shot are typically more severe
than they are to the first. Thus far nothing noted.

Glad to hear you got the second shot and that things are going well so far. While it's possible that the 2nd shot delivers more severe side effects, I think that's the exception rather than norm. I work for a healthcare org where all full time employees are eligible for the vaccine if they choose. While I don't have any stats to back it up, anecdotally I have not heard of a single person who has had "severe" side effects from either the first or second shot. We've had hundreds of frontline workers who have already had round 2, and we have had a mix of both Pfizer and Moderna.
Hope things aren't too bad for you overall @mickey I guess in the grand scheme of things a few days of achy joints are better than the alternative if it keeps you from picking up Covid. Here's to hoping the tylenol takes care if it for the most part.
