RIP I remember both him and the song with a good bit of fondness. Certainly no more pop than pre sgt pepper beetles the band and he were a good listen.

Yep, Gerry & the Pacemakers were one of the top bands of the early British invasion of the 1960's.
They even kept the Beatles out of #1 a few times.
"Ferry Cross The Mersey" was my favorite of their songs.

I read that this morning. They were not as talented as the Beatles but think about all those bands and a lot of great songs that sprung up from the British Invasion. Crazy. Sorry to hear about his passing so...
