I do NOT need a goldtop. I do NOT need a goldtop. But...damn. Were I to find myself with $200-odd burning a hole in my pocket - and lack of guitar burning a guitar-shaped hole on my wall, more importantly - it would be real hard to say no to.

I've got 4 HB and they're all really good. I swapped out the bridge and pickups on the Paradise Flame CST-24 but the other 3 are stock and I haven't seen a need to upgrade anything.

How do you like the Harley Benton p90s. Also do you have the pickups from the custom 24 and if so would you sell them.

The blue one has Roswells and the Goldtop are unbranded. Both sound good. I put the pickups from the Custom 24 in this oddball:

I ask this with the caveat that I just bought a made-in-(fill in Far East/indonesian country) toothbrush whose employees are probably underpaid, overworked and work in less-than-safe environments. It's par for the course because savings come with cost-cutting measures, right? I do this every time I purchase something these days, whether it be from Walmart, Amazon or Spanx.

Before I go down this route I'd like some assurance that HB and its parent company M. Thomann are not overly abusive*. I did a cursory search and couldn't find anything definitive about HB factories.

My toothbrush is top notch, though.

*I am comfortable with some abuse if the product's price is right.

I don't know anything about the conditions of the factories, but maybe I could help out with what factories I think are making some of the guitars.

2 (TE-52 and V) have no markings what-so-ever for country of origin, so I believe they are made in China. That of course could be any factory out of many.

2 (SC Custom and CST-24) are made in Vietnam, which is probably Inyen Vina Co.

The last 2 are my Fusions, and they are made in Indonesia, which is probably Cortek. I've seen Cort stuff that looks identical to them also.

I must admit, those are some very nice looking guitars. Both of the ones I got several years ago had serious quality control issues. I got rid of both. Maybe they are better now.
I am still hesitant to buy anything that may have been made by Cort. Their reputation as far as labor conditions is not exactly stellar.

These ethics get so grey sometimes. It might be quite the tough life in certain factories but possibly if you were to ask the workers they might say their standard of living is 10x better that the hard scrabble farming they used to do. And if not for making junk for americans to buy they could be back to starving.

Or maybe we could just shoot for not having our trading partners selling us the rope they would like to hang us with.

Well pulled the trigger on a HB acoustic and must say their guitars don't suck.

Glad I was here for the Golden Era of HB. I picked up a couple of guitars and a 12” cab. Not bad for $30 shipping... Even though the shipping is higher today - there are also fewer horror stories about guitars arriving looking more like a jigsaw puzzle than anything playable.
