Hi, @Stoli , late welcoming, but always happy to welcome new guys with Agile guitars! NGD threads are our favorites.

That´s a beauty, I really like the finish. I´m glad you like it, and that you see yourself playing it a lot.

If you feel like to, would be great if you post an audio or video clip playing a song with it; the jam room is always open!

Welcome again!

I actually tried to record some stuff last week but the file sort of crashed before I could save it. I know it can work because I have recorded things in the past and it may be that the recording software is not stable. I do not have anything to record good sound quality with, just a voice mic on the PC. Not that you will hear any great playing from me. WIll look for the Jam Room. I love to try to play along with jam tracks that I find sometimes on these websites or Youtube.

Pretty incredible the sound quality that I hear in some things that people record.

I just posted some bad playing here. The playing and recording is not of good quality. The guitar is fantastic, the player is not so good.

I weighed the guitar today and it comes in at 8lbs 15oz. With that said, I was using some scales that are designed to weigh babies on. A guitar does not easily fit on them so what I did was position the case on the scales, wrote the weight of the case, and then put the guitar in the case. The case is about 9.5 lbs. The thinking seems to be that these scales are probably off by 2-3 ounces so I think it would be safe to say the guitar probably weighs 9 lbs and maybe some change. Not a big deal to me as I play sitting most of the time and find the guitar comfortable play and it sounds good I think. Just posting in case someone is researching this particular model.

Don't know how I missed this thread before... Welcome to AGF, Stoli! You made the right decision buying an Agile. If yours is 9lbs, I'd call that light. The two that I owned were 10.5 and 11 lbs.
Finally escaping the People's Republic of Kalifornia!

Without taking the tuners off, I have no idea but I would guess those may be pretty heavy. I wonder if the older guitars were maybe a little thicker or maybe just differences in the lumber and/or drying process.

Welcome Stoli, I have 3 Agile's as well as 5 other "big brand" guitars. The only two I would run into my burning house to retrieve are my modded AD-2500, and my 12 string Harm. My high end Gibson and fenders could be easily replaced, those two not so. Buy and play with confidence.
Cheers

I think my experience was probably 6-7 years ago. If we had our old posts from old AGF I could say for sure. Maybe things have changed, but the Epi Guy, who also builds his own custom guitars was sold that the overseas strings with hex cores were causing fret buzz problems. And when I followed his advice the fret buzz went away. Maybe they have improved hex core based strings since then, or maybe my experience was a one-off fluke. But it kept me from returning an absolutely beautiful, unique guitar.
I thought ALL strings have been using hex cores for a decade or more (except for nylon/gut.)
Not according to the links Glasshand posted. I will probably go back to GHS Boomers if I start playing again. My D'Addarios were probably 15 years old when I used them to replace the overseas D'Addario's that came on the Epiphone. So they were probably still round core at that time. Or it may just have been certain brands of overseas hex strings. But the Epi Guy/Custom Builder said the hex cores made the strings oscillate differently and that it could cause fret buzz problems.

I changed strings yesterday and used these strings. I have used these on my other electrics for some time. To me, they sound good and seem to have good life. If I use something lighter I tend to snap the high E and/or tend to bend the strings sometimes to where a note or chord is sharp. Probably bad technique on my part.

In reading the specs it sounded like the guitar came with D'Addario 10s. They may have been but I do not think they are the same as the strings that I put on as they have a different feel and the guitar seems right with feel, sound, action, and I am not hearing fret buzz. I think something was different with the string weight or tension. Anyhow, I think the guitar is fine with the string change. Having played the guitar for a couple of months now, I think it sounds good and is a good quality instrument for me.

Welcome to AGF and East TN. I'm a couple of hours away in Asheville, NC. I like Agiles very much for me nothing says cheap about them. I have bought 2 Agiles this year an AL-3010 and AL-3200 both were great out of the box however the AL-3200 IMO is one of the best guitars I've ever owned. I couldn't find any flaws with it or the 3010 for that matter. The 3010 pups were just okay I did have a set of SD Pearly Gates in it but sold them and put the OME's back in because I'm going to sell it along with some others. They installed Giovanni GVH -1 pups in the 3200 and they sound pretty good not SD PAF sound quality but good. I think the pups in the 3100 are the same ALINCO 5's that are in my 3010 and they're not bad. I have had many nice big name guitars over the years and still have a 1984 Gibson LP Studio that has factory installed Tim Shaw PAF's and it sounds great but doesn't play a bit better than my 3200 in fact I prefer to play the 3200 it just feels better in my hands. I also have a Godin and a Gretsch still the Agile is right there or a bit above the Godin and definitely a cut above the Gretsch. The rest of my guitars are Asian including a PS900 I modded and 3 different SX guitars another brand from Rondo that are great guitars for the money and excellent modding platforms.
I don't think you are going to be disappointed.

That is a great looking guitar. Lemonburst !
Can just about taste the lemony-ness.

You are just over the mountain. Townsend is a very small town that is out of the madness of Pigeon Forge and all that. We are practically neighbors. Warren Haynes is one of my favorite musicians that is still active and I understand that he grew up someplace near Asheville. I have been very pleased with the guitar and have played it almost everyday since it arrived back in October. Playability and comfort is a big thing for me and why I tend to lean toward electric guitars with relatively low action that work well with light strings. The compact feel of the body and the scale of a Les Paul style feel comfortable to me.

I love the look of the guitars in your pictures and really like the finish and wood on your 3010. I like most anything that has a classic look to it and yours looks to have some burl or other character to it. On pickups, I have not really played enough different guitars with the same amp and settings to be able to noodle all that out. I have a hard time figuring out what I sound like and have to record. I think the pickups on my Agile sound fine for me. I think the pickups in my Eastman sound very good as well. The Eastman generally seems to be a little brighter and maybe not as loud but that is a semi-hollow guitar so I am not sure how much that plays into it. Anyway, I am not good enough for that to make much difference for me unless it just sounds bad.

I am good with most any classic looking finish. Out of all the ones that I had seen on the Rondo site the past few years, I liked the lemon look and spalted tops.

Funny story of sorts. When I first decided that I wanted to try to learn to play guitar I went to Guitar Center and found a used Epiphone "Slash" model that I liked. It was a pretty light weight guitar I think and basically a Les Paul Special with a nice looking top on it and a bolt on neck as I recall. It had a finish color similar to my Agile. I told the kid that I wanted to buy it and he disappeared. I hung around the store about an hour and had a couple of other people ask me if they could help me and I told them that I wanted to buy the guitar and they disappeared too. After about an hour no one seemed to want to sell me a cheap guitar and I just gave up and left. I was friendly and never have figured out why they did not seem interested in selling me that guitar. I had cash and was ready to spend I think about $130 in cash with basically no knowledge of what I was buying.

I went home and read around on the internet and read that mom and pops were better to buy from. I looked around and found a small music store that mostly rents or sells PA equipment but sold instruments too. I went into the store and told the guy that I did not know anything about music but wanted to try to learn how to play a guitar, told him the kind of music that I liked, etc. He showed me my Jay Turser (Les Paul cherry burst color copy), plugged it into a nice amp, and told me to have at it. Was sort of embarrassing, but I told him that I had no idea how to play a guitar and I asked him if he would play it for me. He did and I liked the sound so I bought it along with a strap. He adjusted some things on it, gave me some shop logo picks, and sent me on my way. They called back a couple of weeks later to see if I was happy with the guitar. I told them yes, I was learning how to play A, D, and E chords, lol. I struggled with it for a long time and understand why people would quit within a year of playing. Guitar is not an instant gratification thing but over time the practice pays off I think and you begin to sound OK, figure out what you like and what you want to do with it, and figure out the kind of instruments that you like.

Anyhow, if I had known then what I know now, I would have just ordered an Agile. Learning to play guitar at middle age with no help is a daunting task. I guess at the end of the day I ended up with a guitar that is well made, sounds good, plays well, and looks really cool to me and what I should have bought to begin with if I knew then what I know now. I had planned to put my Jay Turser on Craig's List but my wife seems to like that guitar and I put some blood, sweat, and tears into it to just learn to play a little so I think I will keep it and I still play it some.
