Great Quotes
I'm gonna play because maybe someone knows who said it.
It wasn't General Schwarzkopf! I have looked and looked for the reference, and for all I know it might have been a junior officer in my unit but I have some wires that are permanently crossed.
So to paraphrase a quote during Desert Storm.
"Iraq may have the fourth largest Army in the World, but as of now, they have the second largest Army in Iraq.

-- Dr. Johnson's prayer, in Boswell's _Life_I have now spent fifty-five years in resolving; having, from the earliest time almost that I can remember, been forming schemes of a
better life. I have done nothing. The need of doing, therefore, is pressing, since the time of doing is short. O GOD, grant me to resolve aright, and to keep my resolutions, for JESUS CHRIST'S sake. Amen.

"Harvey and I warm ourselves in all these golden moments. We've entered as strangers - soon we have friends. And they come over... and they sit with us... and they drink with us... and they talk to us. They tell about the big terrible things they've done and the big wonderful things they'll do. Their hopes, and their regrets, and their loves, and their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar."

There's 4 or 5 really good ones in a lot of movies. Clint Eastwood has some great ones. Fight Club, O Brother Where Art Thou, Saving Arizona, Sling Blade etc.
The Schofield Kid: It don't seem real. How he ain't gonna never breathe again, ever. How he's dead. And the other one, too. All on account of pulling a trigger.
William Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. You take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
William Munny: We all have it coming, Kid.

I could quote that whole movie, I think. Along with most of John Hughes' work.

That movie lit the fire under my love for Van Halen. Can't hate it. Like Fraunch dressing, or Fraunch toast.

It's nice to know that H.L. Mencken is lurking incognito and quoting himself at this forum
"If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music... I get most joy in life out of my violin." -Albert Einstein
“Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.” - Frank Zappa
“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination,
a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good and just and beautiful.” - Plato
“Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.” - Frank Zappa
“Poetry is an echo asking a shadow to dance” – Carl Sandburg
“The artist is not a person endowed with free will who seeks his own ends, but one who allows art to realize its purposes through him.” - Carl Jung.
“The greatest of all faculties is the ability of imagination to formulate conceptually. Artists have kept the integrity of childhood alive until humanity reaches the bridge between arts and sciences.” - Buckminster Fuller
“We have art so that we shall not die of reality” - Nietszche
