Jealous that those guys across the pond can get the cooler SX headstock on their Strat copies.

Awwww, don't hate. Just look for one of the vintage, er, earlier versions we got, like my SST57 on the left below:toomanycats wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:45 am Jealous that those guys across the pond can get the cooler SX headstock on their Strat copies.

True, true. I really liked those, I have 4 instruments with those and zero regrets that it's not exactly like Fender. I like them more than the european hook.

You can really tell that guitar is made from inferior wood.
Bad tone.

I'll admit, I don't know who this is, but I enjoyed the playing and the tone. Almost makes me want a SXtrat like that - that one... some time after I learn to play like that. I think strats sound great, even awesome, but I just haven't had the desire to get into them again after messing with a couple of "super strats" in the 90's (talking about setting up the vibrato and replacing the innards).
Fender uses their Squier brand to compete with producers like this, well, their Bullets and Affinities should be of this quality to really compete. I don't think you can get this quality unless you get Classic Vibe. At thrice the price.

Having owned both an SX Strat and a classic vibe at the same time, I can say that there is literally nothing on the SX that is anywhere close to the CV’s league. The CV is closer to an American Fender than it is to the SX. Lower end Squires also compete quite well with the SX.Gear_Junky wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 5:00 pm Fender uses their Squier brand to compete with producers like this, well, their Bullets and Affinities should be of this quality to really compete.
