No not for my pants, but I bet I fooled ya!

I need to get a belt for my turntable, Yamaha PF-800.
Unfortunately I don't know where to find a decent deal on one, there's one on Amazon, but I figured I'd ask before grabbing it. I'd like find a deal though so I could get a spare or two.

Might just go to the auto parts/hardware store and see if I can find something to spec.

Can't help you on where to buy, but think anything you find at an auto parts/hardware store will be waaay too big & heavy.
You might try hobby (do it yourself) type places?

Yeah I was afraid they wouldn't have anything thin/low duty enough to do the job, was kinda hoping some newer car would have a need for a similar belt lol.

Mines not totally worn out or rotted or anything like that, but is a few decades old and a little slow to start.

You might check with Yamaha? It is possible they might provide a replacement?

I bought a couple of turntable belts two years ago.

Give me some time to find the reference.
I remember having to pay attention to width, which is often wrong!

LPgear, good call, may be on the expensive side, though?

Notice that LPgear product page does not provide any specs.

OP, do you have the old broken belt you could measure for width?

In the past I was able to buy them from a local music store that sold guitars and amps, but primarily made their living from school band instruments. At the time they also did stereo sales and repair as a side business. I don't know what they sell/do any more and haven't been in the store in years.

Any stereo repair shops in your area? Amazon you have already tried and that may be the best deal, but mickey has a good suggestion with Yamaha.

I was hoping this thread WAS about belts for your pants. It's surprisingly hard to find a simple, plain leather belt that's actually made of decent leather and not some crappy "bonded leather". (Bonded leather, BTW, is basically plastic with shredded leather in it.)

We have a leather specialist here, quite up hung up atm. :)

There is such a thing as compound leather, found that out on very old cameras.
And 'genuine leather" does not mean what you think it means (like, a low grade that can still pass as leather, or such).

May be hard this year, but go to any gun shows in your area. There are usually semi-local belt makers who sell hand made quality leather belts in a variety of leathers and thicknesses. Collect business cards, so you can buy anytime and skip the shows in the future.

I live in New York City. Going to a gun show is hard any year.

It is a good idea though, There are some as close as 50 miles or so, I suppose, a bit up the Hudson or out on Long Island.

I'll shoot yamaha an email, never hurts to ask.
But I'll still check lpgear and see if they've got anything. Might just order one I can find while I wait for a reply from them.

The belts not broken, but it's a bit stretched out and slips quite a bit when I first fire it up. I'll see if I can get some pics of the inside.

As for real belts I definitely second the recommendation for "gunbelts" and vendors that go to gumshoes, but also would like to add the suggestion of checking out any local town's festivals if they have them, especially any artisan ones, my Pappaw bought the belt he has now about 22 years ago at the Wooly Worm festival from some guy who ran a booth their for years, he probably still does.
