I don't have many due to having lost several in moves and such, but I'm getting slightly more organized lol.
Any collectors on here? I'd love to see what everyone's got.

I'll have to snap pics of the others tomorrow, but this has been my EDC since May.

My grandpa was a big knife collector. He used to give all the grandkids new ones for birthdays and xmas. I have a box with a couple dozen that I've hung on to over the years. For the last several years I've carried a Victorinox Swiss Army Cadet.

I have a number of knives, none of them particularly remarkable wrt price or collectibility. The nicest I had were sold by me and/or stolen by different people I knew back when I was drinking too much. I wish I had them all back, but unwilling to pay the cost for the replacements as the best ones go for 200-300 IF you can find them.

I have a few pics but for some reason I just about can't make myself fool with posting pictures to this forum. I was getting that way on the old forum as well.

My latest is a cheapo Contender Crosswind I bought from Kolour Co on ebay. They seem to be associated with Kennesaw Cutlery. I was able to buy this knife at same as Kennesaw price but with free ebay shipping. I like it a lot for the short money. I think it was $16.28 after tax. It has ball bearings and the assist flipper works great for fast easy 1 hand opening. Locks up TIGHT! The blade is fairly sharp out of the box and has a matte type finish that is new to me but OK. It is a large knife with a big blade for a "pocket" knife.

This appears to be an OTF automatic. Microtech? If so, is it a 2 way action? I really have gotten the bug for an OTF auto.

How do you like it. Was it very expensive etc. Would like to know.

I've been collecting knives for several years I have a few over 100 now but at one point I owned over 400. I really only collect traditional pattern knives but I do have a handful of modern knives. Microtech IMO is the premier production brand for automatics but too expensive for my wallet they start at around $250 with $350 and up as more realistic price point for their OTF (out the front) knives. I do have a few $200 to $300 knives but most of mine are worth $50 to $150.
I have 1 auto it's a Boker Kalashnikov just to have an auto in my collection and it was less than $50 new. Here's a picture of my most valuable knives they were customized with stag covers as well as other mods and all are iconic knives. This display contains a Buck 110, Case XX Sodbuster, CaseXX Trapper, Case XX Stockman, GEC 15 Boys Knife, Colonial Barlow (my 1st knife) and a Camillus TL-29.

Never cared much for knives except for what they could do for me when I needed one.
So I have mostly used box opener type knives.
But I used to work for a guy who was a knife nut.
He saw to it that all the guys who worked for him were fitted out with a selection.

Yessir, Microtech Ultratech 3.44in blade, press up for out and pull down for in, has a killer little kick to it that lets you know you've either drawn or put it away. It's been my edc since early May when I got it. Absolutely love it, hasn't failed on me, and it's still sharp enough to shave arm hair lol.
It was like $300 after tax and rushed shipping from bladehq. Reeeeeally wish I had the money and didn't miss the Microtech Live event the other day, they had some special edition UTs you could get for $150.
I kinda wanna try a Guardian otf, they're apparently super nice too. But I definitely plan on buying another few Microtechs.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I could get motivated to take pictures and post. I got on a Morakniv kick a few years back and have 8 or 10 of them. Also bought some cheapo Ozark Trail lockblades from Walmart [mention]LessPawl[/mention] recommended as good emergency cheapos you could buy anywhere there was a walmart. I am glad I bought them as they seem to have been discontinued. They are on the small side but have good scales and lock up tight, and are sharp to use right out of the packaging.

I hate I missed the Microtec event. I am wanting an OTF two-way auto. One thing I only saw in one place said that all but 1 type have some side to side blade "wiggle" when open. What is your experience with this.

The G and G that is a "new" design and claims totally tight lockup is over a grand so not for me at all.

I don't consider myself a knife nut. I don't really own any vintage or truly high end knives. I could be called a knife geek, I even posted a thread with that name at the old AGF (that was more about kitchen knives).

I just went through my Amazon purchase history and there were 2 dozen different knives I'd bought over the years (some of them are kitchen knives).

That reminded me of this one below. I came upon it accidentally and it cost me half the price 7 years ago. It caught my eye because it combines a saw (back of the blade) with a bit of serrations and a straight up fillet edge. Appears to be decent steel (maybe nothing stellar). For cleaning fish it seems to be a nice combo, it's a bit stiffer than a thin fillet knife but not quite as rigid as a boning knife. Chunky grip.

None of my knives are "your life depends on it", more just utility and I like to have many so they're always handy. Most common task is opening boxes, maybe prying something small or cutting string/rope. And they make good gifts.

I got a few of these (they're little itty-bitty fixed blade knives, 2" blade, 3" handle with leather sheath, so it's maybe a 3-finger grip)

They're a bit like Rondo guitars, especially SX. They look nice and do fine for light duty and cost like a decent box cutter, so why not?

Of the more practical knives I really like this one (have a couple and have given them as gifts). Much chunkier than a typical folder, locking blades, the saw actually saws. They were cheap at some point.

And in my kitchen the only knives worthy of mention are both from Ikea (and no longer offered).

Yes, I'm a geek, I know that something like Shun is better, I've tested them at "Sur La Table". But I've had these for a decade and they hold up great. Anyone can get great stuff at full price, there's no sport in that

It has the slightest little wiggle to it, about as much as a good old school folder but with less of a threat of accidentally closing it on your finger. Hopefully it shows through in this vid, it probably wiggles about 1mm.



I was worried about spending hundreds on a knife, but I absolutely love it now that I've had it a while and am gonna be keeping my eyes peeled next year for the Live show so I don't miss out.

My Pappaw's knife from my childhood, he gave it to me a few years after my older cousin got him the knife he carries now.

Case pocket knife my dad got me for my 14th birthday.

I find them pretty consistently on my bike rides. I keep 1 attached to the outside of my Camelback in case of wild animals, crazies, etc.

I just found this in the burnt out landscape of the Almeda Fire in Talent/Phoenix OR a couple weeks ago. I almost stepped on it as I was taking pictures.

A Higo No Kami I picked up from blade hq, apparently handmade/handforged and it was only like $15.

I have been looking at Viper-tec, which is a Microtech clone. Haven't found a ton of reviews. Don't really need it anyway, but that has been true of the Majority of my knives. A Viper-tec Ghost 3.5" blade can be had for $89.99 and I'm guessing tax and shipping. Around a hundo all told I'm guessing.

It's actually not bad as is. It's a little burnt on the one side, but the story is better than any restoration. I'm gonna treat the wood and sharpen it only.

Most of my knives are for kitchen use, but I'm a fanatic about keeping them sharp. I have two Chinese cleavers, which I love because they're so much more versatile than a chef's knife, IMO. For slightly smaller work, I vacillate between a 10" chef's knife and a slightly smaller santoku. I like the santoku but I do really like the bolster on a Western-style knife. I currently have a nakiri on order, mostly because I ended up with a gift certificate to a kitchenwares store and nothing else to spend it on, so we'll see how it feels. I am, in general, a fan of carbon steel over stainless, just because I feel like the edge is finer, and even if it dulls faster, it's also easier to sharpen.

I carry a Victorinox "Super Tinker" SAK regularly, because you never know when it will come in handy! I also have two Opinel folding knives for general use, which I'm very fond of; one is stainless and one is carbon, so you can really compare the two. The larger one is the second-largest folding knife Opinel makes, a #10. They make an even bigger #12, but that one's getting so big it's more like a folding machete!

And, while it may be stretching the definition of "knife", perhaps the most unusual piece I own is a Gurkha knife set, not in great condition but (I believe) a real historical piece, with two knives and a sharpening steel, all with water-buffalo-horn handles and hide cases, and armory marks on the blades.

Sure, the first one with the hole in the scale is a Kizer Yorkie. The second one is a Monterey Bay Knives EZC. They’re both designed by Ray Laconico. I believe the EZC was also manufactured by Kizer but I’m not sure on that. I have a type when it comes to knives. I like them simple/clean, titanium scales, flipper deployment, with frame locks.
