2.4 GHz transmitter and receiver. USB charging. Right out of the box works like a champ. Plug receiver into amp and transmitter into guitar and move around without cables..wonderful. About $25 bucks.

I played for an hour and no issues. The only complaint I had was they're plastic and won't stand too much rough handling , but since they rotate, can easily be pushed flush against the guitar so less likely to catch on anything.

Well, mostly I play while sitting in a comfy chair. I just like the idea of not being tethered to an amp.
Might even play my electrics more than my acoustics?
No? I didn't think so either. :D

What model did you buy? Where did you buy them from? Are you still pleased with them?

I got the amoon 5.8ghz models for about $60. They have been very good. Very low latency. They can run about 4 to 5 hrs on a charge. Be nice for a bit more battery. I get nervous near the end of a long gig. I'd wish for a bit more distance but truthfully when you get to the 30 ft distance the acoustic latency will drive you crazy anyway. When will they have the $60 iem. Thats whats next.

Wood grain naturally for me :)
Whatever you do make sure they swivel to tuck next to the guitar body. HAve you seen the rigid ones that just stick out waiting to break off? I would have broke one of those 10 times by now.

Anyone know the practical diff between 2.4 and 5.8 ghz? I thought maybe 2.4 was being reallocated and may not work in the near future. I think that's why I bought the more expensive ones but hoping someone here knows.

Well, 2.4 is where most WiFi operates.
5.8 is where the rest of WiFi operates.

Does that mean hackers can cut in and replace my blues lead with Death Metal ?

There is considerably less interference in the 5ghz range in part because there are less things emitting in it and also because signals don’t travel as far or penetrate as well.

I also have the Amoon 5 ghz set that I got for about $30 from some shady Chinese place a year or two ago. They still work, and actually work pretty well.

2.4 is where most microwave ovens operate. If it is just a transmitter and a receiver, there is no latency. It's real time. If it converts it to digital then transmits, then the receiver converts it back to analog, there will be latency.

How did i know that joke was coming up?

Back a few years ago, when the wife was heating something in the microwave, i would get kicked off the internet. I then did a bit of research and found out they are very close in frequency and all the noise would mess up the wifi router. I'm wired direct now so no problems. 5ghz wifi on the cell phones suck. I change it to 2,4ghz and get a lot better range, but i also see everybody in the neighborhoods encrypted router.

2.4 ghz for wifi has better range, but your speed is limited. 5 ghz is must faster, but if your internet speed isn't over 100 mbps you won't see much difference, but if you have a 1 Gbps service, you may see up to about 500 mbps with 5 ghz, as opposed to maybe 150 on the 2.4 channel

how it relates to a wireless guitar system, I have no idea LOL

Thats right. I think I was remembering the talk about some of the old uhf freq models. Thats the one that worried me as it travels far and was kinda turning into a wildcard.
