The big online superMall Lazada (our Amazon here) has these annual sales 9/9, 11/11, etc...and Goldtop I had my eye on was 65 bucks off today...couldn't resist.

Funny thing was I saw it in a local shop at the mall...showed the guy (admittedly just a kid working the counter) the discount price on Lazada from his very shop...and he couldn't budge on price...my bet is after it gets delivered...that same goldtop will be missing from the shop display....SMH.

Should be delivered by Saturday....my first ever LP style....BTW...Century is an established local brand...I've played several and they are pretty solid...at $165 bucks after discount I couldn't resist those P90s

Nice. You should specify in the topic that it's not just a gold top, but a P90 gold top :)

Headstock looks awfully similar to old Harley Bentop L450+

I think that much of the Chinese produced guitar stock is likely manufactured using the same box of blanks and identical tooling jigs, if not in the same factory before rebranding and QC.

that's the one variant I've never owned... owned P90's and a goldtop once, but never a goldtop P90! I'm super jealous! Congrats!

Congrats - that looks very "correct" in body shape/horn as well, if that kind of thing matters to you ;-) I like the headstock inlay too. And as others have said, P90/GT is the OG of Les Pauls

Yes it looks pretty close..my only OCD is when the horn is too sharp..makes it look like an old hollow body with that Florentine cur which I despise. Some variants with a much more rounded horn actually look pretty slick too.

Contacted the vendor....the store is only about 3 miles away...so tomorrow I will bring it in and see if they can offer a quality replacement...but to be honest...the broken headstock was one thing...but I was not happy with the condition and quality...it seems they sent me something that had sat around for years...rusty strings...etc...finish flaws....if he cannot come up with an acceptable replacement I will ask for full refund. The funny thing is my Maya Strat clone (same price range)...is stunnigly better in quality than this sample was. I should have stayed with a brand I knew and trusted...but they don't have a goldtop. We'll see what the deal is...gonna bring GF with me just in case they get snarky about refund...she'll rip em a new one..for sure

Yeah...going to the shop today. The manager said he had a replacement waiting for me...but if it has any major flaws outside of small finish imperfections....demand refund and then going back to the Maya brand which is comparable in price but stellar quality....only they don't make a P90 Goldtop...but Metallic Red is Ok and I can always put some HB sized P90s in there if need be. Wish me luck !

Either way I had an opportunity to actually plug this one in and check out a few things (albeit without proper tuning). The pickups work and sound pretty good. The Switch is solid...but the POTS are dime sized no names and the tone and volume knobs really don't have the range I'd expect. If I do get an acceptable replacement, going to swap in some Wilkinson P90s and some CTS POTS and shield the cavities while I'm at it. Maybe switch everything up to black plastics too....I like that on goldtop.

Actually she's pretty calm....but she just won't leave until she gets what she wants...so they might have to call the police...ha ha. The first girl I dated in Thailand....now that would have been a different story....crazy as a loon..but never a dull moment.
