You know I had to start this somehow. Our county has opened a few weeks ago, so neighboring counties are just opening now. Yard sale listed on Craigslist was actually a antique store i haven't been to in a few years. Got 2 boxes of tubes,$40, mostly all new GE stock from a electronics store that was real popular here in the 70's. I'd say about 200 tubes. There were a few expensive ones, for eBay fodder, i don't use, 7308 Amperex PQ gold pins (6dj8, 6922), some TV horizontal output tubes used as ham radio finals or illegal CB amplifiers. I've already sold over $200 worth so i am past my break even point. For guitar i got a few singles, 6v6, 6l6, 12ax7,12bz7, 5814, 6cz5, 6973 pair. The rest got inventoried and stacked in the garage.

Very nice Sam! I love those little Voxes. Voxen? Anyway, I'm sure they sound great together.

I have tried a few of these all in one units and was not too impressed. But with a little tweaking the GT-1 sounds ok. Have not cranked the Vox because I am in a hotel room. But at the 1/4 watt setting it sounds ok. Much better than the Vox VT-20 I had. And zero complaint from the neighbors. Also bought a nice set of headphones that sound quite good with the GT-1.
This weekends finds, small haul but was worth the trip, left at 7am was back home at 9am, lots of daylight left to tinker.
Philco model 77, this is going to her cousin because she always brings us things and food and stuff, it has loads of patina and looks perfect almost now i touched up some wear spots with dark stain. I think I'm actually going to pull the chassis out. Replacement will be a bluetooth, sd card, type of player. These are AM only so who listens to music on that, and restoring these early (1930) Philco's is a pain in the ass.
Next is a synthesizer, i think, Ensoniq VFX, was good in it's day and for $30 i couldn't pass, will plug in later to see if it has any errors. Second full sized keyboard that has followed me home, and i have no idea how to play.

I would love to see post on this. I bought a Philco to do something similar with, but thinking more of a turning it into an amp for guitar and a Blue tooth. I reninished the cab, but lost momentum in trying to decide how I want to do the electronicsmozz wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 3:35 pm This weekends finds, small haul but was worth the trip, left at 7am was back home at 9am, lots of daylight left to tinker.

Bought a 2.1 bluetooth speaker set from AMAZON, about 30 watts. Either going to transfer the entire thing to the inside of the cabinet, or gut the speakers and do a custom install. I can fit a 10" woofer in there in the current cutout but my speaker stock i have no 10" woofers, only a full range speaker out of a practice fender bass amp i gutted years ago, it may work well enough. I should start on this tomorrow.

Behringer empty cabinet, with 10" Jensen, cutout is alomost perfect for a Fender tweed chassis $5
Guy then pulls out a Crate, "it doesn't work" DXB112, $10. It now works thanks to a resoldering of the input jack.

Box of 7 oscilloscope probes, 6 are new in the packages, never opened. In the box is a 2500 volt probe, which i will never have a use for, expensive, so that lucky one is on eBay for $500 with offers, that will pay for some of my winter heating fuel.

Very nice! I have been to only a couple sales this year and roadside finds have been MIA. I’m glad you’re still finding good stuff though. What ever happened to tha Fender Champ you found way back when?

The 59 Fender champ i had picked up at a hamfest. It was terribly covered in black tolex in the 60's, i guess because tweed was old and all the new amps were in black. I actually had a new cabinet made from John Mergilli. Took out the radio shack speaker that was in there. Purchased the correct speaker (jensen 4 ohm) in a old Harmony widowmaker amp. Recapped and it works fine.
I ripped that old black tolex off and have the cabinet here, just need to send it out to get redone, then i will put it back in it's original cabinet.

I’m glad to hear the champ is doing well and still slated for a restoration. On the tubes, oh my my, oh hell yes! Those look mighty fine.
I had been hoping for a tube haul to come in finally, but it evaporated. A seller gave me a lead last summer on a massive number of tubes he had been holding on to. I’ve contacted him several times but never got a real commitment from him on how I could check it out. But I found out this week that he was too late to retrieve them from his storage location. 8 large tubs of tubes were donated to the local landfill already.

Was looking for a case for the Firefly 338. Finding a used case locally for a semi is not easy. Spied this acoustic case for a Guild for $25, i figured it was pretty close but a bit tall. So she fits in nicely, have to adjust the neck support foam but it's only held in by 4 staples. Cleaned up nicely with a few scratches i covered with a black marker. Still up in the air whether to put it up on reverb and then buy a proper sized 335 case but do i really want to spend $100 on a $139 guitar?

It looks like yours is in better condition than this one on reverb. Maybe sell it and keep your eye out for another cheap case?

Someone just gave me an old partial drumset fro ma neighbor that knows I play music. I don't know what to do wit hit. I thought I could set it up as a spare at my kids house but not enough is there. I already have my friends old slingerland plus I have an eset thats easy to move and my drummer has been digging it recently. I'm thinking just CL the parts for a few bucks. Give it away if the story is good enough.
Old partial drum sets are an interesting case. Unless they have historical relevance there is little you can do with them. It's almost impossible to complete the set due to the impracticality of finding shells that match in construction and finish. They take up so much room it's hard to give them away. They're like encyclopedias and college textbooks. They seem too good to send to the landfill but, in truth, everyone already has all they need.nomadh wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 11:41 am Someone just gave me an old partial drumset fro ma neighbor that knows I play music. I don't mind selling stuff on eBay/ reverb but usually it's smaller items. Where do you get boxes big enough for a guitar or case? Even a tube amp would need a good double boxing to prevent damage.JimyTheAssassin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 11:33 am It looks like yours is in better condition than this one on reverb. You can usually get one for a guitar from Guitar Center just for asking - they have a ton of deliveries, so they end up with more boxes than they know what to do with. Cases, I dunno. But shipping guitars is a nuisance, no question about it, and I dislike doing it.
