I haven’t gotten any spam from the Momominions.
But I have this to share, because it’s funny.

So, I used to frequent another guitar forum called Bluestalk back in the day and a similar thing happend there as our Momo invasion. I just visited the site to look around and here is what it looks like now:

Did a search and it took me to momo again. The reason I joined here at first was all my searches took me to agf. Still does many times. This was to my old $1000 guitar collection post. Google showed it but its a dead link now. Others do connect through but they lost lots of old stuff during the conversion it seems. Anyway while over there I scraped some more of my old data. My wifes cancer. My dog and cat dying. Just such a waste it was all mangled.

Well, I'm a few months off and the site's gone... lol

Welcome aboard sir!stratoagile wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 9:53 am Well, I'm a few months off and the site's gone... lol
I did glace through some of the posts before it happened. What triggered all this, if that's okay to discuss?
It all began on a previously unannounced "transfer" the day after Memorial Day, May 25, when site owner, "Tom The Traitor", and some MOFO Dweedoid announced a new Owner, a new Mod and moving ALL user board info over to a site that somewhat resembled a failed attempt at a "Mobile" version of AGF which bore absolutely no resemblance to its current iteration and was designed by Illiterate Millennials trying to do a Data Mining Grab.
A Sheetstorm ensued. I contacted "The Traitor" and offered to take over the hosting costs and was told control of the site and domain had already been transferred. Shortly thereafter it was revealed that "The Traitor" had been working behind the scenes to pull off this Coup for months.
In my final contact with "The Traitor" I actually told him in writing I was going to set up a new board and never heard back from the WIMP again.
While everyone else on the board was in total shock and completely whizzed off, I contacted my ISP, bought the domain name "aguitarforum.NET", yes the idiots never bought the other extensions to cover their butts (Thank God), Hosting for TWO YEARS and had a NEW AGF up and running in less than 5 days...warts and all. I made daily progress updates and with the help of the Old Mods, Tobijohn and Mickey along with Rich in the U.K., who helped out YUGELY with quite a number of the technical issues, the NEW AGF was launched.
During all of this, Old AGFers NUKED the old board in all kinds of ways to get folks over to the NEW AGF which worked spectacularly. The gits on the old board even wrote custom code to "intercept" posts referring the new .NET site and replacing it with the old .COM extension. WEASELS!
Yes we have lost YEARS AND YEARS of amazing content but we are all here, committed to rebuilding and keeping the flame of AGF burning brightly.
The "CORE CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS" of the old AGF are all here. The NEW AGF is owned and operated by its members and always will be.
As a result of our "Rebellion" the transfer of the soul of AGF FAILED MISERABLY and so...We Be Where We Be.
The MOFOs and "Tom The Traitor", on the other hand, have been left licking the soiled rim of an Old Soviet Union Toilet....
Googling a pic of that.

It has been explained a few times on this site already but in a nutshell:stratoagile wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 9:53 am Well, I'm a few months off and the site's gone... lol

1. Major Tom sold AGF to a Korean based Data Mining company whose head looks like an asian Grace Jones.
2. he never told anyone here (not even the mods) of what was afoot.
3. when they were ready to make the move check in to AGF you were hit with about half a screen flash about how AGF was about to die and you needed to sign up to momoboard.
4. Momoboard has the absolute worst user interface on the internet
5. Those of us who did go to momoboard have been getting a daily dose of spam in our inboxes ever since.
6. Patrick checked and they only owned agf.com, so quick like a bunny he bought agf.net & set this system up in less than a week
7. We were like rats deserting a sinking ship.
or
It could have been because you stopped coming around.
I disremember which.

I requested and had my account and all content deleted from the "old" site. It's a shame but at my age I was running out of stuff to discuss now I can start over.

For shits and giggles I created a dummy MOMO account with a fake email just to check the vibe over there. There are no posts except from DanF at all since July 5. He's posted 5 threads since then and all of them have only his own comments. AHAHAHAHAHA

Maybe signup w a dummy acct and scrape off whatever old data you way want to keep. I think its too late for your IMs. Maybe you dont have to sign up to read. I'm not sure.stratoagile wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 9:53 am Well, I'm a few months off and the site's gone... lol

Oh dear... I have to remind myself to log in with a mainstream browser. Just finished typing this post up, **submit**, " please log in again"... gone! I can't believe I missed all that, just like I missed the "branded" a.k.a. Agile site transitioning to "A...".com
All this sneaky data selling is absolute horsesh*t and I'm pretty sure lots of it is gets leaked, Korean or not.
I'm pretty glad I didn't sign in/up over there at momo, my email is already full of gibberish that gets deleted on a frequent basis. From what I understand, if all the posts are gone, all the accounts are too?
Hopefully we can get all the nice folks back on here, it was always a nice distraction from daily BS getting on AGF in the evening.
If only Courage would have logged in then, he'd show those wise guys! (my old cartoon avatar reference)

Glad you guys were there at the right place, right time and kept things moving. It takes quite a bit of effort to go through all that nonsense AND have the people willing to do the extra work. Dang.
As for the new front page, it looks pretty damn good! I do however like the simplicity and interface of the the post-login site. I will check out the features later on. The "reactions" button is sweet!

I don't remember who sent me the PM on the old .com site, to move to the .net site, but I greatly appreciate it.
What was done to our old community is a shame, but we have a great home here.

Funny that since I retired, I am posting less. I suspect as I run out of projects and training my dog, Ill be here more like I was on the old site.

I didn't bother with scraping or saving my old content. I'm still here, so if ya want to know something, just ask.
However, now I can start a new guitar building thread - and this time I'll run the risk of looking like I know what the hell I'm doing.
