Can we discuss the New AGF openly and honestly?

finally put this site on computer, like it alot.
Having not been a part of the old AGF, I feel like I missed out! So far my experiences have been good. I mean hell, I met a fella pretty rapidly, and made a solid trade.
I keep catching myself on certain adult words I've typed and then modifying them slightly but I get the reasoning behind that rule! Overall happy to be here and be welcomed. Can't wait to see more!

I'm like you with the 'adult' words. I can't & won't complain, it's a small price to pay for a new home, but like a fair few of you here where I'm from those 'adult' words are just words that connect others in a sentence. You know, "How have you been?" "F... hell, don't ask. I've been really busy". That kind of thing.brentona wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 8:22 pm Having not been a part of the old AGF, I feel like I missed out! So far my experiences have been good. There have been some fantastic posts and thoughts in this thread and most people have already said things that tie in with my thoughts. Right now I'm just happy to see both new and familiar faces. The familiar make the move so much easier and the new show that we're moving onwards and upwards.

The way fender handled the fuse issue was beyond horrible. Not only no updates. Not only abandon the platform. Not only no support. Not only kill editing so the old content would be static? No they take all the shared help, posted patches and firmware and dump it. Thanks for reminding me I need to call and scream at them.t100d wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 3:59 pmHmm, why don't you tell us how you really feel?jtcnj wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 2:47 pm It is different.
It does feel a bit sterile, while my resistance to change and kids on my lawn may lend bias.
Still some missing members; I guess we are not the same AGF brothers we were.
Traumatized by the brutal ass-raped betrayal by the blomo.
The same; yet different.
Why? The interface is certainly functional; not like that Blomo farce.
What is the meaning of internet life, sensei?
Bewb pics? Hmm, a flavorful side dish but not the main course.
I agree the general volume of trades and good deals, etc. is down so there is less "stuff" to post about.
Has the "golden era" of cheap but good guitar passed us by, or is another yet unseen chapter just over the horizon; the next Harry Potter movie?
We still have some good build and new gear threads, some performance clips, and a cool meme thread.
Good to have landed in the life boat and then here with you folks.
I'm not a long timer, but at 5 plus years I recognize most of the group.
Gets me thinking about things like:
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
"I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never gave much thought what it meant. I just thought it was some cold-blooded shit to say to a motherfucker before I popped a cap in his ass. I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. See now I'm thinkin', maybe it means you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9 Milimeter here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. "
"Or it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. Now I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."
I think it means if I get hung up about it I should go play some guitars and play in the yard with my dogs.
Seriously, though, I'm just glad that we're all here, at least most of us—as regards changes, I'm a life-long Mac user, so I'm used to arbitrary changes in appearance and function, so just roll with the punches.
If there's one thing that really pisses me off, it has to be when Fender abandoned the Mustang Fuse software and all those cool patches disappeared, and they didn't even say "So long, and thanks for all the fish …"

It's great having our old crowd here. And putting this altogether, and so fast, was masterful. Once we got 4meg pics theres nothing stopping this this place. Except critical mass. I'm worried there just isnt enough going on with the old guard. And so few neewbs to indoctrinate in the ways of guitar excess. Unless we can get more new blood this will be a slow painful decline. And our biggest draw to get new people here was our awesome archive. When I got here I read hundreds of posts i was very interested in before I posted.
I have the same issue with my pond club. 10 years ago ponss were the hot new garden feature but now it's a yawner. The club used to have 3 or 4 new people as 1 or 2 slowly aged out. But now its 1 new a year but people e still age out.

What a difference a week makes. I haven't been by here in a few days but checked in today and see the fantastic new layout & colour scheme. I don't know whether's it's been mentioned in another thread (probably has, to be honest), but it looks fantastic, modern and very welcoming. Great job!

I seem to remember when we didn't want outsiders and now everyone's all worried we won't have enough.nomadh wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 10:49 am It's great having our old crowd here. Agreed - I really like my little mustang practice amp. Fender's ditch of Fuse is really irritating. Doubt I'll ever get the new mustang because of it - what will prevent them from abandoning that platform next.

The spirit of that is to try and limit the amount of gratuitous obscenities. However, certain points can't properly be made or feelings effectively conveyed without some seriously rough language. In situations like that, I just substitute asterisks for most of the letters in the particular word or words..
