I like offsets more than non-offsets, and I can deal with short scale guitars well enough. So it has struck me as odd that I have survived just fine to date without a Jaguar. Looking into that, there is a recurring thought that bugs me when I do look at them. It's not the thought of $1399 being too much for a Mexican Fender, although that has been a consideration. It is that the Fender stock photos (at least the lefties) make it look like the guitar has an intonation problem. With all the saddles pegged at the top of the bridge, that can't work out well. Did they just take all the pictures before they had a good playing one? Or do they think Nirvana is best played with bad intonation? Or is the guitar really incapable of being properly intonated? I really have no clue because I've never seen one in person. But if you have one, I'd love to hear your take.

Every time I see that bridge, I hear Dave of "Dave's world of fun stuff" saying "Instonation".

no issues on the Cobain Jag body I used a Harley Benton short scale neck as a placeholder for a Musikraft neck I plan to eventually buy.

No clue on the intonation, but I want one of these if they ever come back in stock.

$1399 for a Kirk Cobain model ?

Why not get a MIM without the fluff ? The Player Series is about $750 here.

Yeah...I know the feeling. I am gassing for a Jaguar badly but not crazy about the color options in the Classic Vibe series. The next step up is a MIJ for about a $1000 bucks in Daphne blue. Do I really need a $1000 Jaguar ? Hell if I'm going that far I might as well consider the American Professional at $1750 or even the Johnny Marr at $2300. There's a Classic Player for $950...but only in Tobacco Sunburst which is one of the colors of the CV series I'm not crazy about to start with !

I bought the Amer Pro Jaguar when it was on sale. They use the same bridge as the Johnny Marr which is better. Used they were just above $1K last I checked.I don't recall Jags being impossible to intonate so much as having other issues.

If you love offsets there are many other great options out there.

I like it except the pickups (thin). I think it looks like what the Jaguar was designed to be. The bridge looks like it would work well, and the locking trem is a plus.

You may find that the $1,000 USD MIJ model is equal to the CP, AP, and JM in fit, finish, build quality, tone, and playability. The quality of Fender Japan is typically quite high.

Thanks, I've heard from several sources this is true except that the electronics may be a bit less than the American / Mexican versions. But I've heard the Japanese models are usually pretty perfect out of the box in most other aspects. Still considering options

I agree that MIJ Fender is pretty high quality stuff based on an '85 MIJ Fender Strat and a 2012 MIJ Fender Mustang. I'll never sell either of those 2 guitars.

Well my current thinking is since I'm going to be hanging an offset on the wall it wouldn't look right unless I hang a 2nd one opposite it. The plan was to buy either a JAzzmaster or Jaguar and an Epi Casino worn. But maybe I go for the MIJ Jaguar and the J Mascis JAzzmaster and skip the Casino for nowvad I already have a gold top LP with P90s. And if the Epi Riviera ever makes it to Thailand, it's mini humbuckers would fit the final spot on the wall.

Today's Guitar-a-thong deal at GC for a CV Jaguar is one I would go for if they sold lefties. I'd probably consider a pickup swap later.

If anyone wants one, Sweetwater has the Contemporary HH in stock. They're showing 4 more on the site. One is on the way to my house.

I have the cobain one, while it did seem a little overpriced at $1299, it does come with dimarzio pickups, and a really nice hard shell case, which more than account for the extra money.
