Gotta love Jeff Beck...Guitar Player asked him how he kept his Strats in tune, what with all of his whammy bar work, and he said, "What makes you think they stay in tune?"
I'm not trying to bag on Fender and the synchronized tremolo again, but it's pretty amusing that even Jeff Beck admitted that you had to do everything just so or the whole system would go off.

I've got a great system for making a Fender Strat with a synchronized tremolo stay in tune.

Honestly, I do not know how the Stratocaster became such an iconic guitar. I cannot get anything I like out of one. Of course, I am probably the issue. I love a Tele though.
