This was a 13 studio deluxe II that I drove to no county to try out. It was beautiful and interesting looking but it just didnt play very well. It wasn't horrible or anything but it just didnt have "it" That was the day I bought the 14 studio with the mocha plastics for about $800 with some special sale going on. It played phenomenally and was the most beautiful studio I had ever seen except for the studio deluxe series.

This was a studio deluxe that I fell in love with when I went in to order the NOS 13 studio plaintop tsb that I eventually got and is in the post above.
It was heritage cherry sunburst and was one of the few csb finishes I ever fell in love with. They wouldnt deal on it below 1200 so I stuck to my pricematch that they had to order from wherehouse.
Image

I loves the natural herringbone effect of the flame maple top binding. How is it that plastic and not flame maple the standard for expensive guitars?
Image
And I even loved the look of the dark mahogany back of this one, usually an irritation to me but this one was stunning

What studio model is that? Very nice. Looks related to mine. The one that started this thread that no one can see :)
Its the same as yours, I think we got them right around the same time.
I guess we can compare now. I just posted mine

Is that the model that defines it? That was 3 years ago. So still a work in progress. :) I hate that stupid plastic covering my nice wood its still a major win for me.
So much for glamor shots. Mine are more like crime scene photos

Isnt it nice to have some room to post pron? :)
Just wondering of these 2 which should I have kept. The 14 studio was maple neck, no case, some special circuit to semi split the coils and about $800. The deluse came with a Nice HSC, more traditional and breakable hog neck, a boost circuit and push-push coil split pots and 1 burstbucker and was about $1000
What do people think?

Those look great - is it the lighting or is the middle one a different shade of gold?

Funny, because when I posted the pic I noticed the same thing. The two on the outside are 60's Tributes with not nearly the amount of finish as the middle model. There is a coat of green under the top coat of gold paint on goldtops. Also much less nitrocellulose lacquer. The Tributes barely have any nitro lacquer. They wear and look vintage quite quickly. I gigged and played the Tributes quite a bit but the middle baby is mint. Still smells like candy.

Thanks for reaching out, Jeff and mickey. Time is tight these days and I'm having a bugger of a time trying to figure out how to p.m. and post on my kindle while falling asleep. No luck so far so I scratched this note out on your thread.

This is my Goldtop - it's also somewhat of an oddity/unique 2012 model. They made a special run of Les Paul Deluxe "reissues" but through the Gibson USA line, and not the Custom Shop where most reissues come from. It originally had Mini hums, but I had Buddha Pickups make me a set of vintage-style P90's to recreate my own version of an R6. The one really weird feature ( although useful ) is the neutrik style locking input jack instead of a traditional Jack plate. Not sure why they would have decided to put a modern feature on a "vintage" reissue, but such is the case. I kind of like it as it locks your cable into place securely. This is a very light LP - uses traditional swiss-cheese weight relief and on the lower side of the 8lb range. I was playing around with the portrait mode on the phone when I took these photos.

Those are killer man. The RD's are very mis-understood guitars. I would love to get another, perhaps a custom or one of the re-issues (white one). Here is mine:
