I am having a bit of a Firefly infestation problem!
That's bad, but @LightWingStudios has it much worse...

Congrats on the Firefly invasion! Nice collection.
I've been liking this one for a while, mostly for the neck heel for upper fret access. How do you like it?
If FF would start offering more finish options on this model, I think it would be a nice seller.
Thanks!

Thanks. I just can’t buy expensive guitars anymore. So much more bang for the buck and I learned how to setup and work on my guitars since a few of the Fireflies needed a little TLC.Buddha Pickups wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 8:37 pm The walnut and spalted are very nice!

I have one. I got it out of curiosity. It was not okay when it arrived but after tuners, set up, pups, and a few other mods it is usable. I let a friend take it home over a year ago. He was wondering if he would like a semi-hollow so I said, take her for a spin. If he did not bring it back I would be just fine.

Out of my 10-15 I've definitely had a few questionable ones but most turned out good with new electronics and new bridges.tonebender wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 6:31 pm I have one. I like the mahogany LP with the tummy cut. Most of my guitars have the belly helper except my LP style guitar. Sanded my Tele and added the relief, but has it been unfinished for about two years. And the plan is to install TV Jones pickups. They have been maturing about as long. Retirement is looming though.
Problem? What problem. I don’t see any problems.
Great looking collection. I’ve been wanting a tele lately and have been looking at the Firefly’s on the marketplace.

I have to admit that a tummy cut on a Les Paul guitar would be nice. My Melody Maker has a slight contour. It is probably the most comfortable LP I have. The 60's Tribute is my number one for sure but that MM is a close second. It's thin like an SG but still has a maple cap. It is a pleasure to wield on stage. The slug P90's are very snappy compared to traditional Gibson P90s like those in the Tribute. It reminds me of a Tele sound when I play it.

@tobijohn is fairly accurate.
NEVER paid over $275 EACH with Shipping from California to Florida for ANY of these...
If you're a "Mod Head" they make astonishing "Husks" tho I've left mine stock with the exception of adding a TP-6 Fine Tuning Tailpiece as can be seen.
I did buy TWO Black LPs with P-90s in them and slapped a set of Mini Humbuckers in ONE to make a "LP Deluxe" model...also have 2 and 3 HB versions.
Hitting the 75+ Guitars Mark. Oddly enough my wife thinks its great...and that I'm "Lord Of The Fireflys". LOL!
A MERE SAMPLING...from "The Old Man".
2/26/25 EDIT: A KILLER LP is due here on Friday...stay tuned.

As odd as it sounds, I have never owned a Firefly. I'm as much of a guitar junkie as anyone here, yet I still have yet to pull the trigger on what is arguably the most well known online import budget brand out there.
It's not that I have anything against them. I believe the reason is that I buy most of my guitars at pawn shops, and I have never seen a single Firefly at those places . . . which is in itself an interesting observation.
Why are there no Fireflys in the pawn shops around here?
Do the type of people who purchase Fireflys tend to be more possessive of them and not let them go? And if they do, perhaps they have a better sense of the instruments worth, choosing not to pawn them, but instead privately listing them for sale.
I'm sure I'll eventually own one of these things. The stars just have to line up the right way for me, with the right guitar, at the right price, in my face.
Oh, and incidentally @Spencer4hire . . . great user name. I loved that show.

I'd guess there's no meat on the bone for pawn shops. If you go to GC's used guitars and search for Firefly, you'll see a lot of examples. They list a ton of Firefly guitars for more than they cost new. For GC, it was worth the sale of a different new guitar to take a FF in trade, but they may have to price the FF higher than they can sell it if they want that guitar to also make money. Pawn shops are not trying to sell new guitars.toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 7:40 am ... I have never seen a single Firefly at those places . . . which is in itself an interesting observation.

There are boatloads of them on reverb/ebay and i have even seen a few on FB marketplace locally. Certainly the cheap purchase price was what initially fueled the buying frenzies, and then all the "pandemic era" spending probably gave it a sizeable boost. But now you have a sizeable number of people sitting on multple/dozens of what are essentially a commodity. I don't mean that in the sense that they aren't good guitars for the money, but honestly no pawn shop or resale guitar store is going to make any money reselling them when you can still buy them new at a low price.toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 7:40 am As odd as it sounds, I have never owned a Firefly.
