The left-handed AD-3200MCCs were supposed to have come in with the current right-handed AD-3200MCCs but the factory apparently screwed up and now it looks like they won't be here until end of the year.
There will be only four and the finish will be CSBF. However, and I'm not sure if it's even possible but if it is, would any potential lefty buyers out there besides myself prefer a CSB plain top over a flame? If so, maybe I can get Kurt to make the change.
Let me know, thanks...
Any lefties considering a future AD-3200MCC?
I just heard back from Kurt and going to a plain top is not a problem. However, the cut-off date is 7/15...

if I did, plain would be my preference.
If it could/would look like that funky China Yamaha style double cut finish (minus the abalone binding...), that would probably get my pocketbook to open...

I would love to get a 3200-MCC, but, and this is a big but, I don't want any more CSB in my collection, flame, plain, or otherwise. The ocean bursts never grabbed me, but I'd probably pop for a well done tobacco, root beer, or even a lemon if the grain was compelling.
If it would look half as nice as that one, I would be thrilled. The grain and finish on that made it about the most striking plain top I've ever seen. My only reservation is the grain on the CSB plain top Custom Select AL-30SE I ordered was nice but kind of on the muted side...

Well, the initial lefty AD-3200MCC was a Tobacco quilt so there's your earth tone. Unfortunately, I've just been obsessed with CSB, especially the plain top as that was the first real Les Paul I actually saw in person and was completely enthralled ( a friend from high school had one). I couldn't have afforded a used one back then even if was available (I settled a couple years later for a mahogany SG).BatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 4:37 pm I would love to get a 3200-MCC, but, and this is a big but, I don't want any more CSB in my collection, flame, plain, or otherwise. Lemon would be a nice change of pace though...

Thanks, that's fine, no problem at all. Hypothetically though, if you had been interested in one with a CSB finish (plenty aren't), which top would you have preferred, flame or plain top?
BTW, which model Gretsch?

Sorry, but just not i the market. But if I were interested and wanted a CSB it would be plain or figured no flame or quilt. Something like birdseye. CSB has always been way down the list of finishes for myself. And honestly having found out the 3200 has a thin neck is a deal killer even if I were looking. I'd jump on a $800 Gretsch if I had the money or place for it though.

I would go for just about any other finish besides CSB, whether it was a flame top, quilt, or plain. I can't stand CSB guitars. My personal top choices for the AD-3200 would be green quilt, wine red flame, or natural mahogany. Count me in if the next batch is a unique color, I feel like us leftys always get stuck with all of the boring generic finishes with our guitars.
Yes, I seem to be the only lefty who can still tolerate CSB. That's fine if CSB doesn't blows up your skirt but do me a favor and please post what finish and top would spark interest in a $550 AD-3200MCC. If there's any consensus, maybe Kurt will be open to changing it. If not for this four lot, at least maybe for a subsequent reorder. Who knows, if there's enough of a demand for a particular finish/top combo, maybe he can add it to the upcoming run. However, in order to ensure the factory doesn't mess up, he said the window for any changes would be closing around 7/15. One other thing, I don't know if mine was an anomaly but while all the right-handed ones purchased by members here came in under 9.25lbs, my lefty was a little over 10.25 lbs. TIA...
So far, we've got:
Lemon,
Tobacco
Root Beer,
Green quilt
Wine red flame
Natural mahogany

The tobacco quilt would have done it or violin burst ,bourbon desert, root beer bursts, lemon burst Those Gretsch greens olive and Georgia would do it but Not with the 3200 neck with a 3100 sized neck and buckers like in the viet 3100. That would get my attention , but I'd still buy the Gretsch for $250 more because it is what I want . It's moot anyway since I won't have the money for either for a year probably.

A configuration just popped into my head that would make me buy immediately - A well done gold top with P-90s, ebony fret board, and natural back. That would trigger my "Buy Now".

I’d love to, but I’m still buried in medical bill debt. No new gear for me in the last few years, or for the next few
For CSB I like just a plain top with a little character. I have the second 000-28 ever made for lefty in CSBtobijohn wrote:Thanks, that's fine, no problem at all. As for the Gretsch I want to get in the near future, the Electromatic is the only total hollow available before you have to sell your first born. Lefties have no option available for a Bigsby before you get into the big bucks so that would be tossed on as well. And color options again suck for lefties so I would go Orange over black.

UPDATE:
I just got an email from Kurt asking where we stood with this. If we had a consensus on a finish other than CSB, I'd mention it to him but as it stands, it's going to be a humbucker CSB and unless a couple others who are serious about buying one step up for a plain top, it will be a flame. We've got until Monday to change things so let me know...

Count me out for CSB. I really want an AD-3200, but I'm not willing to drop that much money on any guitar in that finish.
Well, besides green quilt, wine red flame, or natural mahogany which you mentioned previously, are there any other finishes that interest you? If not possible with the upcoming batch, if we can get a consensus on some other finishes, there's a very strong likelihood that Kurt might include it in a future order.MrSouthpaw wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 6:37 am Count me out for CSB. That goes for anyone else with suggestions or preferences as well. Let me know what you'd like to see. With the previous success of this model, we've got a little street cred with Kurt....

Those are definitely my top three, all about equal preference. I would be willing to go for just about any other standard Agile finish. I'm not a huge fan of ocean burst (at least the ones with the really light center), and I have too many guitars in 2TS. Other than that I'm very open!tobijohn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 7:49 amWell, besides green quilt, wine red flame, or natural mahogany which you mentioned previously, are there any other finishes that interest you? Well, based on the response here so far as well as a few PMs and emails I received, I told Kurt that it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a lefty P90 Gold Top AD-3200MCC to the production schedule and probably the same in an AL-3200MCC. I also advised him to just stick with the CSBF if he doesn't decide to outright substitute the Gold Top for it...
