Picked up another Agile LP, this makes probably 5-6 over the years. Hasn't been played so the frets and pickup covers were tarnished. The rest of the guitar, after cleaning and Mothers Carnauba wax, is dead mint. Looking around the net everywhere I see these listed as triple ply binding on the body and headstock. Mine has 7 ply binding (4 white and 3 black). Serial number is 17146 made in Korea, any idea what year? It has the 5/8" maple cap.

My early headstock AL-3000, AL-3001, AL-3500, and recent AD-3200MCC are all bound like that. I'm guessing it's a 3000 series thing. No idea on year.

Right, just wondering why everywhere I go it’s listed as three ply binding when you can plainly see even in the for sale ones that it’s seven ply lol. Can people not count?

Ah. As I understand it, some binding is multi-colored, so the number of pieces is not necessarily the number of stripes you see.

Asked Kurt. His response:

"The serial number looks to be a bit short. If it’s correct that would date it prior to 2006 and we do not have detailed records older than that.

I could probably give you an estimate based on the shape of the headstock and horn (within 2 to 3 years of it’s age) if you want to send over a few photos. Unless it was a 3000M (or had a longer serial) it would not have a maple cap from that time period btw.

Kurt".

Well, as a pretty frequent Rondo customer from a while back, ummm sometimes the descriptions on the site weren't totally accurate.

It's hard to get good help. ;)

Congrats on the deal though, 3000s are pretty nice!

Same observation here. The AL-3010SEs have the 2/1 binding but everything else that I have in the 3000 series are like yours...
