How-Bout Them P90's

I have an Agile PS900 that I really like but it hardly ever gets any playtime. I don't want to sell it but I'm thinking I don't have a P90 guitar and that might be cool I do like the growl those old P90's can kick out.
What if I got a set of humbucker sized p90 pups would it sound good and would I play it. What do you think and if I do change them any suggestions of great P90's.

I like the humbucker size p90 knock off on ebay there cheap and sound good, not the ceramic ones the alnico 2 or 5 ones like guitarmadness sells. the guitar fetish ones sound good as well the mean 90s, not the dream 90s there blah.

IMO, talk to Buddha pickups here at AGF. His humbucker sized p90's are very nice.
Good punch, good clarity with growl, are what i once got from him.
I bet he'd make them for you just as you describe to him to make.

I would heartily endorse this effort! You aren't playing it as is & P90s rock!

Love me some P90s - to my ears, there is nothing else with the complex nuances imparted by that design. I agree alnico magnets sound (my opinion) better in P90s than ceramics. One thing I'd note is that those "humbucker shaped P90s" can't 100% be P90s, because part of the character of the P90 is the flatter wider wind that is why P90s are a bit wider than humbuckers. That's not to say the "humbucker shaped P90s" can't get close enough, and maybe they'd fool my ears too. I have a set of those I haven't decided which guitar to give them to yet.

Yeah the humbucker size are close to p90 sound really depending on makers. the humbucker size are built different inside. seen the real cheapo china ones aka 20.00 pair amazon ones have a single magnet under pole pieces like a cheapo single coil strat in a humbucker housing and they sound like a tele/strat. seen some some with 2 magnets stacked under the pole pieces, most have 2 magnets on either side of the pole pieces like real p90.
the cheap ebay ones like guitar madness or sansman sellers have the 2 magnets on either side just like the gibson p94 " p94 gibson in pic" and there very close sound to the seymour duncan fat cats cant really tell the difference. ive always been happy with the ebay ones in neck postion in teles just installed one other day in my tele but i used the alnico 5 bridge in neck it makes that neck so clean and clear but still good low end.
Im sure buddha pickups p90 sounds great! but im a cheapo when it comes to pickups anymore

I would second this -
@Buddha Pickups has always been able to take the "idea" in my head of what I want pickups to sound like and then make it into reality.
Another thought would be to get some adapter rings and mount a standard format P90 in the Humbucker route.

That's not possible, though, unless you do some more routing: a P90 is substantially wider than a humbucker.

Numbers do not lie
I once owned a JR style guitar that had an adapter ring like the one I proposed that had a Soapbar sized pickup ( Dimarzio Super Distortion P90 ) in what I thought was a humbucker route, but perhaps more routing had been done. In either case thanks for pointing this out for the OP.

My very first post on this/the old forum was a rant about how much I disliked P90's. It touched a collective nerve. I'm not sure if he remembers the post, but @tonebender responded with a list of artists and songs featuring P90's.

I got a set of them years ago, too. Buddha made a wonderful pickup.

Wow passions are high with the P90 Obi-Wan I feel as though I've opened the proverbial can of worms.
So armed with reviews, a few YouTube videos and little $$$ I ordered a set of Guitar Madness P94's for $44.67 including tax shipping was free. Not sure if I want P90's in the guitar but definitely wanted to try them. Thanks for everyone's imput I do appreciate it and
@tlarson58 we like what we like and that is perfectly alright my friend.

I would love to see that list, if for no other reason to see what I’ve been missing.
