Kurt selling Agile brand?
Just my guess but there is a lot more competition today than when he began selling cheap guitars on the internet.
He operated on slim profit margins, more competition = slimmer margins.

Just the Agile brand is for sale, he will be keeping Rondo and continue to carry everything else...

Actually, I'm surprised he'd let go of Agile b4 SX. Agile, is his own brand allowing him to make whatever he feels the market is clamoring for unlike SX which is not totally under his control. Plus, being a higher priced guitar, probably has more profit/piece than SX models. I mean, I'm sure he knows what he's doing, you don't stay around like he has being stupid... but I'm still surprised.

We discussed it but decided we didn't want to get into a bidding war with that acquisitions juggernaut, MOMO Boards...Bubba Zanetti wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 9:11 pmWhich is why TJ and I and Nick in the States will enter into discussions with Kurt to buy Agile, right TJ?

I don't know, if we can pull off a new forum in a few days, why can't we take over a guitar brand? that's in all seriousness. if someone is scratching their head that has posted here is thinking the same thing, i'd be willing to help. not looking for a business venture, but a labor of love. not looking to lose $ either lol! feel free to pm me. i wouldn't be able to do it alone, but i can possibly lead or be very active.

He's been floating that idea for years I think, there was more than one thread on the old forum about it. It's certainly got some brand recognition over the flood of other knockoffs that have come out over the years.

Yes, if we do make trade with china harder a premier korean direct sales brand could be sitting pretty and SX could be tariffed out of existance.dabbler wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 8:46 pmActually, I'm surprised he'd let go of Agile b4 SX. SX isn't owned by Kurt, he just sells a small part of their catalog.dabbler wrote:Actually, I'm surprised he'd let go of Agile b4 SX. Correct. I guess I should have said that I'm surprised he's selling the label that he controls vice dropping the label that he distributes... for the reasons I stated.honyock wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 1:14 pmSX isn't owned by Kurt, he just sells a small part of their catalog.dabbler wrote:Actually, I'm surprised he'd let go of Agile b4 SX. Well it could be a return on time invested vs net profit. if the headaches on the sx line are low vs net and high headaches on the Agile why not sell? It can't be easy dealing with the different korean manufacturers and lets face it the Viet and Indonesian for the future. Then trying to keep us old farts buying while bringing in new money.

He can also likely sell the Agile line... then shortly thereafter increase the amount of SX guitars he imports. I'd imagine he avoids ones now that step on his Agile toes.
If he just distributes he doesn't have to play the factory hunt, argument etc game.
