Hey Gang

So some threads have recently discussed a bricks & mortar store Rondo (like the quote below). I didn't know there was such a place, I assumed that Rondo was online only. What was the Romdo store like? Like a regular old style guitar shop or ???. Also i gather from these threads that it is now closed? Is that right?

I live in Texas, so it's unlikely that I would have ever gone by but ???

Bye

I lived a few miles from the Rondo Store, which was located on Route 22 in Union, NJ.
I was impressed by the quality and cost of the Agiles, so I grabbed a few.
I was there on the last Saturday they were opened.
Madhouse.
People were grabbing everything.

Yep, Rondo had a store in NJ for many many years (since about 1959) selling all types of music equipment. I bought my first Agile there directly at the store, tried a couple before settling on the most "perfect" one of the bunch. I think they closed up the physical store somewhere around 2007 or so and moved everything to online only. It was basically like a regular guitar shop, nothing out of the ordinary.

Found Rondo online and went to visit the store.
It was about an hour drive from me.
Took Mrs. PEZ with me.

It was a regular store but I remember it being very full with gear.
Lots of guitars hanging up.
And they had not only Agile and SX but the other players as well...(if I remember correctly)
They had a small selection of drums, amps and brass/woodwind instruments.
It really was a full service place.

I bought an Agile 2800DLX that had a broken headstock for $180 I think.
I think I spoke to Kay-Z directly about it. I was told it was a lifetime guarantee that the neck would be stable
Kay-Z is Kurt Zentmaier....no relation to Jay-Z......

I also had my eye on one of those Music Man EVH copies. Mrs. Pez told me to get it but I my wallet was already zippered up....
After getting home...I joined the Original AGF.

I believe we took another road trip 2 years later but the store had closed by that time.

I'm feeling that! Great deals are great deals! And the more easily identifiable your instrument is, all the better!

And you KNOW I loves me some blue!

Isn't there a story about Bob Dylan coming into the Rondo store in NJ? Anybody remember the details about that one?

I didn't find about Rondo until just after they closed the store and moved to NH. I wish I had known about it sooner. I lived in Massachusetts then, and could have taken a road trip down to New Jersey.
