Still loving mine. At $175, I thought it was too good to be true.
At $215, I still think it's a heck of a deal.
Do you know if the specs are identical? Something rubs me the wrong way about about paying $40 more for the same thing...

I'ld buy it while there are still others in stock, TBJ. In case it needs too much fret work, you could try another. 1/2 mine got full fret levels. 1/2 didn't need any fret work.

If they were in stock, I would but with an advanced sale that could possibly sell out before they even arrive and ship (9/19/20) there wouldn't be anything to exchange a bad one for...

Sheeeeeet, if they came in with THOSE tops, everyone would buy one.

So with a target ship date of a month out, he’s already ordered them.

The description looks the same, but I take his descriptions and specs with a huge grain of salt.

I know these SX are well liked cheapies but they are not nearly as cheap as before. Add to that all the good reviews and outstanding looks of so many of the different firefly lps at a lesser price why not go that route? Or the harley bentons? Rondo just seems have less and less to offer.

For a right-handed player, you're point is well taken. However, Firefly is not currently offering anything in a left-handed dexterity and while Harley Benton does have a decent selection and thier build quality lately seems to be better than SX, there's almost nothing currently in stock that I don't already have...

For me, the SX Callisto("STD+" and "CUS" models) from the last year or so, stand out because of the great sounding body wood. Whatever asian mahogany variety with maple cap they have, the combo helps my best pickups get a warmer bluesy sound. Better sound to me than any of my other LP guitars. And , they have all been less than 8 lbs. I ended up buying several, and past 2 on to a relative and friend.

Black plastic would look good with that finish. I wonder if the control covers are the same size as an Agile? $20 for a blackout kit...
control covers seem standard

How is your Callisto STD+ TBJ?
Do you like it? Feel? Sound with pup swap?
Pics?

I'm pretty impressed by the build quality, other than lowering the action a bit, no setup was needed. Tuners have a bit of play and not as tight as Agile Grovers but not so bad that they would need to be replaced. Pickups are more than serviceable but of course, I've got a replacement set in mind. Mini pots and a Switchcraft style toggle but everything works fine. 50s style neck too.

One thing I noticed is the body thickness is 1 13/16" where the right handed models have close to the full 2" thickness..

Let us know your impression as to how the new pups sound comparatively in this guitar, once in.
I am assuming the lefties also have the 1/2" maple cap, and the mahogany looking (same as body) neck wood coming into tenon.

It shouldn't be as it's the same thickness as the new style AL-3100MCC/3200MCC (as well as Gibson Studios) and affects nothing but I'm more than a little strange about things like that...

The problem with the slightly thinner bodies is they weigh a bit less, which reduces your ability to complain about the weight. This is a big issue since it seems a lot of modern guitarists prefer complaining about how heavy their guitar is to actually playing it.

* Don’t tell anyone, but I actually like the feel of the thinner ones a bit better!

Kurt talked me out of buying from Rondo several years ago by adopting the policy of "shipping only to the billing address on your card."
My billing address is a P.O. Box.
Rondo does not ship to P.O. Boxes.

I like that finish. Somewhat similar to rootbeers from the past.

Also possible that he might list them on Reverb, in which case he usually offers flat rate shipping of just under $20. He doesn't always list every model from the .com site on Reverb, but if there are significant quantity he may.

still fighting the urge TJ, my collection will never match yours, not even close...

I did notice his shipping is usually cheaper on Reverb. Always confused me because he also has to add Reverb fees, but I've ordered from him both ways. In this case, I tried to add the blue tweed LP case he added, for 2 reasons - 1, it would stand out from all the more typical cases, and 2, I prefer a guitar shipped in a case if I can help it.

The packing has improved dramatically, it still is that flimsy cardboard box but the entire guitar itself is enclosed in a specifically fitted strong, thick bubble wrap shell. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if it could withstand a drop from a second floor window...
