These two Agiles not only have the open book headstock, but also the Gibson-correct pointy horn.

To quote Kurt, "Some people like the shape of the guitar prior to the 2002/2003, before headstock and horn change."

Ten years ago, on the old AGF forum, I posed the question, "Would you buy an Agile Al "Historic"? By this I meant a reproduction of these early Agile AL guitars.

What @peskypesky is showing us here are two real examples of the pre 2002/2003 Agile AL.

Hmmm, TMC, you are bringing back a bit of introspection I had with myself back in the day.

First off, thanks pesky for making us aware of these 2 open book headstock ALs.

For a while, I was disappointed that Rondo had stopped the old headstock and changed the horn shape before I even was aware of Agile, or Rondo for that matter. For a while I looked for old style ALs to buy. But after a while I stopped. Because:

1. The prices were a little high, for used instruments.

2. And while I understood #1 a little, because of the desirability of the old style ALs, I wasn't willing to spend that much on them because:

3. I will pay for function, and utility but rarely for brand or style. And the newer, changed, ALs were different but they were as good as the older ones, as far as I could tell.

4. In addition, I really do like being just a little bit different from the crowd. The reasons for this are a little convoluted but it's the way I am. My Rolex inspired watches are Invictas, most of my Fender and Gibson inspired instruments are Agiles. And I even like some of Rondo's more unique offerings, KY1/ISIS/SIS, Liquid or Ceti anyone?

5. And most of my favs I mod in some way. True, the mods are things that you usually can't see, shielding, series/parallel switching, tone cap changes, but that means that I'm not really looking for something that a collector would want so why start with something a collector would want only to reduce its collectible value?

So, yeah I'm not interested in owning an older AL. And, in fact for for straight out-of-the-box value the BEST most FAVORITE AL I own is my AL-3000 neck-thru. That's one with a standard heel... see how weird I am?

Gearlist: A few LP's, a Strat, a Tele and a few acoustics.

I have had that first one in my cart multiple times. It has been on their site for almost a year now and it was sold and returned to a different store for some reason.
