DAMN I wish Kurt would make these with a floyd!!!

Rondo came out with these and I seem to remember the color changed. There was a guy on facebook that posted one of the gray ones and I don't recall it was an AL-3100mcc or not, but it was absolutely gorgeous. And we had a thread on the old AGF forum (toxic now).

But it SEEMS Rondo got more of these back on stock. Does anyone know whether more of these came in, or did I just not notice they've been around forever. I noticed them again lately and think the gray ones came back in stock and they are a beautiful color (unlike a lot of the burple ones which I don't like at all, Kurt's got some ugly purples out there these days, could be why there's a million of them still for sale).

If one of these had a floyd I'd hit it. There just isn't enuff allure (yet) for one of these, I just don't need another hard tail les paul. (but I might)

It seems the ONLY spec difference between these is the neck thru of the AL-3200mcc. Did I miss it if not? So I wanted to ask YOU the EXPERTS on here, would you pick the AL-3100mcc or the AL-3200mcc, and WHY.

I figured I'd have a little fun and post a TWO-WAY poll, your choice, and why (hope it works). FUN!!!!

They do look like you're staring down at the Moon surface through a window of a moon lander (while being in a purple haze). Personally I'm holding off for one with an aquarium view, with fishes, crabs and anemones and maybe a sunken pirate ship in the distance

I have a custom shop AL-3200 with a very similar finish for sale currently (would probably be long gone but I'm not willing to ship it haha). I would take a 3200 over a 3100 for sure...superior upper fret access, love the 5 pc walnut/maple neck, and for me in general if given the choice between neck thru and set neck construction I'm going with a neck thru every time.

There is no way I would buy another set neck Agile when there is a neckthrough option available. The neck through offers better upper fret access and is more comfortable to play.

That's pretty deep @Gear_Junky, ocean bursts are close, you'll have to get your own fish decals for the PUs. Yea I could get a guitar for what that thing costs @BrianSkeezer!

I think I remember now, the previous incarnations of these had abalone inlays which really clashed with the purple, whereas these are MOP. I could be wrong. Here's what the previous batch looked like (used at GC):

Where would that be?

I hear ya, I have a 3200 but it's a 24-fret 3200, nice access.

NY. It's a beaut but I am not playing LPs enough these days to justify keeping 2. It doesn't have the grey-ish middle but is lighter in the middle and gets darker as you move out toward the edges. Really nice color and really killer looking with the MOP blocks...agree that abalone is too much on these.

Nope they're not purple haha, they're custom Bareknuckle Warpigs with distressed camo covers. Very pricey ($350/set), but absolutely incredible. Here's a close-up:

I was thinking of these that they looked like...

Those Bareknuckes seem awesome. I have some Dimarzio LiquiFire (neck) pickup and the Crunch Lab (bridge) pickups in my 3200 and they seem kinda raspy, a bit too high of a gain.

I wonder how those Warpigs would sound compared?

The Warpigs are actually insanely hot pickups - the hottest set Bareknuckle makes - but still somehow manage to avoid sounding harsh in any way. I'm a diehard Bareknuckle loyalist and have various BKP models in a bunch of my guitars. I've had the Dimarzio Petrucci set you're mentioning too and they're good pickups but really need a certain kind of guitar to shine...I don't know that I'd put them into an LP.

There are lots of great pickup companies out there but for my tastes and preferences I haven't found anything that's bested what Bareknuckle puts out.

I bought a Blue/Purple Burl that's close to that color top this past June and I love the color but some of my unsophisticated vocalist friends can't seem to get it. Ain't that right Richard also I'm trying to see if you ever got on this site.

I'd love to have one just like yours, but lefty and with abalone inlays.
Yep, I like abalone inlays. Different strokes, and all that.

Whats your impression on tone differences, IE both, with same set of PAF style pups. Whats the difference in sound gonna be, in your opinion? Thanks

While I didn’t quite compare back to back it was really close, maybe an hour max that it took me to swap? I moved a pair of SD Antiquity PAF clones from an AL-3000 (no maple cap, set neck) to the AD-3200 (maple cap plus neck through). The 3200 is noticeably louder and brighter acoustic and is also a touch brighter/clearer and sustains a bit better plugged in with the exact same pickups and CTS pots from the same lot with nearly identical values.

Not a huge difference that a little EQ tweak might not hide, but definitely a bonus for the 3200.
